Mama Toun Is a self convinced Christian. You wonder what that is. She is proudly one. You may not agree with her convictions but you'd know how certain she is of them. Every of these things she knew not just by feeling but by experience.

She was born some seventy years ago - a little less than that. She grew up without her parents. She was passed around from one relative to the other till she fell into the hands of Baba Toun - her husband. She was barely seventeen when she was found with a pregnancy. She, at the time was living a strict disciplinarian except when it comes to his own children. Daddy was what she called everyone she lived with. This particular one is Kayode's.

Daddy Kayode was very excited when his wife told of her misgivings of the pregnancy. "I hope there is a father," He asked all blushing. When the answer was affirmative, "I want to see him." She screamed suddenly and angrily. Then the excitement returned. That is how she became a wife then a few months later, a mother.

The child was hale and hearty. She was proud of herself. She has achieved all she knew a woman could. She is the first child of her mother to finish secondary school. She is barely a year out, she is married and with a child. What else can she ask of the Almighty. Her pride is not unnoticed by even Kayode's Daddy. Toun, they named the child. Daddy Kayode would wonder what Mummy Toun's joy was. "I have never seen a more shameless girl. She picked up pregnancy and is so excited." Kayode's Daddy had rejected you the payment of her bride price saying the whole pregnancy thing was shameful. Mummy Toun will not hear of it. "He married his wife with a pregnancy too."

Her journey to Christ started with a crisis with her baby. She was pregnant of a second child when Toun started a series of nightmares. The little girl will scream out of her sleep and a long run of different ailments till money finishes and the family is almost reduced to penury. Next time the family economy comes a little buoyant, Toun starts all over again. Baba Toun was especially pissed with the whole situation. "Where did you get this evil spirit of a child from?" He kept chewing in his mouth.

Worries and anxiety became Mummy Toun's lifestyle once money comes to her husband's hands. She had no choice than anticipate the evil she wish won't but will certainly soon be here. She started to frequent spiritualist homes. She went from an Alfa to an herbalist to a pastor with no considerations for alphabetical order. Different kinda churches, different spiritual homes, places she never knew existed. She frequented them all.

Her daughter suffered much from their different recommendations - sleepless nights, painted with all sorts of substances, made to drink many concoctions. She had incisions all over her body. Different powders and other things rubbed into her many wounds. Toun got worse.

It was in all of these many run arounds, Mummy Toun gave birth to her second child - Elijah. Elijah's birth was the path to the saving that restored Toun's health and brought normalcy and salvation into their household.

Mummy Toun was still too busy with her daughter's affliction which she believes can only be spiritual to take cognisance of the new child growing in her. There is no other explanation as far as she is concerned. How can a child scream out of her sleep and you'd expect hospital drips to be the cure to the resulting ailments. They'd do this test and treat that diagnosed illness then another will take over keeping the two year old continually hospitalized.
She was on one of the many runs to buy ingredients for a herbalist proscribed cure when the pangs of child labour gripped her in a marketplace. Women ran around her to make a place of delivery but Mummy Toun was too determined not to deliver in a marketplace. They succeeded in rushing her a nearby church that has a maternity centre. There she gave birth, there she found hope and salvation for life.
