Applying for the Nigerian international passport as a woman who has changed her surname due to marriage can be a cumbersome process. And it is a process many applicants are unfamiliar with. As a result they spend extra at the hands of corrupt officials.
Outlined in this thread are the steps for applying and getting a fresh international passport as a married woman.
Before we begin...
Did you know just 12 years ago... married women were required to get their husbands written consent before they could apply for Nigeria International passport?
February 2008, Dr Iyalla-Amadi wife of late popular author Elechi Amadi wanted to replace her international passport. Among the list of documents she was required to attach to her formal application was a letter of consent from her husband.
She reasoned with and protested against the NIS, that the policy was against her fundamental himan right as an adult. but they wouldn't listen.
Since change can start with one person, she took them to court, and in June 2009, she won in a Port harcourt Federal high court. Accorfing to the judge such policy has no place in the 21st century.
Because of her, women who changed their surname due to marriage do not need to show a consent letter from their husbands.
They need only need to show marriage certificate and other proofs of change of name due to marriage. Together with the regular passport requirements. 2 Likes 1 Share

For standard passport its 17,800 (without NIN). These cost is for 32 pages, 5 years passport NIN requirement for renewal depends on the office you are doing the passport. Lagos, Rivers, Kano and NIS HQ, Abuja offices require NIN |

After downloading their approved app and linking my NIN I noticed all information are correct expect I'm seeing another person's passport in there. How do I change that?
