I'm puzzled over developments of Nigeria state as it affects our collective existence as a people. I have keenly watch as event unfold of late respect to hisbah activities in Kano and other northern states. I continue to wonder at the level of policing strength and guts with which hisbah conduct it's day to day businesses which to me exposes northern Nigeria hypocrites regards to state policing and the stiff opposition it has generated over the years from the region.

You can't eat ur cake and still want to have it at the same time. The north will always go against that which is to protect Southerners but will look away when her kins men do same. This is unacceptable, the freelance activities of hisbah which similar isn't allowed in the south can't continue for long. It's clearly obvious that state policing is the best security structure as it is obtained in developed counties and Nigeria can't be an exception. Whatever is good for the goose is also good for gander. How do we explain a situation where Southerners can't freely go about their business of choice under a secular and democratic constituted authority without fear of being intimidated or harass for some religious nonsense.

In another news, hisbah was destroying and set ablaze people's businesses for violating Islamic laws of the state, then the question in this case should be "Is North A New Republic of itself" within Republic of Nigeria? If this is not the case and Nigeria hasn't change and by implications, we are still indivisible entity, like north are deceiving the rest of us or want us to believe, then what is going on in Kano and other parts of that region needs to stop forthwith as hisbah action is trample on the rights of Nigerians who are living in that state going about their businesses. Disturbing them from running their constitutionally empowered right is an affront to the very existence of our constitution and that I think is a reasonable felony punishable under the law. Unless the north want to separate or disintegrate from Nigeria. However, unless this done, Nigerians have rights to move freely and live in any parts of this country without being harass or subject to any inhuman treatment of any form.

Pls, lend ur voice against this madness currently going on in the north before it consumed all of us. Injustice to one is injustice to all.

Hisbah, is an Arabic word meaning an act performed for the good of the society, is an Islamic religious concept that calls for "enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong on every Muslim."
The Hisbah Corps does not have authority to execute arrests and officers are armed only with non-lethal weapons for self-defense, such as batons. Hisbah officers who observe violations of Sharia are expected to alert the Nigeria Police Force. Other duties of the Hisbah Corps include arbitrating the voluntary reconciliation of disputes, verbally chastising violators of Sharia, and maintaining order at religious celebrations. Hisbah are also trained to assist with disaster response operations

Don't be so smart! The meaniy maybe good but the point of contention is the excesses of going about destroying people's legitimate businesses. That is, what is barbaric about its operations. Nigerians have rights under our constitution and sharia is a religious law which is non-binding on non Muslims. Govt needs to do something about this trend. It doesn't portends good for our purported indivisibility. We are already a devided people going by our culture and tradition so we should be careful how we go about our religion.

Hisbah like all other vigilante or community police protect the interest of ppl in their immediate community in which states have the constitutional right to enshrine laws in respect with their culture and traditions in as much as it'll not contradict the supreme constitution of FRN. Alcohol is prohibited in some Northern states and is obvious to those selling it in those states, so why should they take it there?
For instance, in India eating beef meat is strictly prohibited for religious reason and most people in the area were the religion prohibit it respect their right for the sake of peace not because they don't like the meat. We can only live in peace of we stop criticising and start understanding, tolerating & respecting other people's cultural & religious values.
