Edo is originally Ado. Is from Yoruba words. Igodomigodo people cannot say d word Ado like d Yoruba does, they prefer to say Edo until this day.

He clearly state that Ado doesn't mean settlement ... The Old school for settlement is iballe, ijoko and Ojo....

The name Edo came to light during the reign of Oba Ewuare 1 who was trying to repay a head servant of chief Ogieva Nomuekpo name Edo
