Media personality with Kpoko FM, Michael Effiong has questioned the habit of some husbands beating their wives. He cited the case of Channels TV reporter, Pius Angbo after the Governor of Benue State, Ortom, reconciled him and his wife.
The Warri based radio personality tweeted this;

"Just go back to your husband because of your children. Do you want another woman to take over your husband's home? Just manage because every marriage comes with its own problem. The church won't be in support of a divided home, so just bear with the man. Do you want to bring shame to our family? Just stay with your husband. With these advices, many women have returned to their husbands home and died prematurely from the beating of the so called husbands. In few cases the husbands change, while others reduce the beating.
I'm not preaching for divorce but I just feel that Chioma, Ejiro and Bola would be living today if only they went their separate ways and stayed away from their abusive husbands.
Also our growing African women should learn to be independent, the struggle to survive independently is a key to making out decision that will work for you. You are the one in that relationship, you know what you face everyday.
In the case of the reported Channels TV reporter, Pius Angbo that beats up his wife, in a saner clime he would have been taken away by the law enforcers but here in Nigeria the case is different. Wishing them a successful reunion, but the question is that, "would Mr Pius stop beating is lovely wife?."

The reconciliation before the camera is so superficial. The truth of the health of that marriage would be pronounced when the media attention shifts away from them, then they both would know if there was true remorsefulness and forgiveness, if none is feeling repressed.

It will be good if they can move forward by going for couple therapy where a certified professional will take it up and is not expected to be biased but serve as a human mirror to the couple.

It's the person who needs salvation that should have held on to affirm he is truly changed. Independence is for a strong hearted not many can live above judgement. The man should been wiser by now.But, l am wondering when my Governor became a marriage counselor, whatever happened to Commissioner for Women Affairs.?
