..."Umanah has Done More Than We Expected" ~ Moses Ekpo

The Member representing Abak/Etim-Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency in the Green Chambers of the National Assembly, Hon. Elder Aniekan Umanah has sponsored a 3-day Fishery Training and Empowerment Programme for the people of the constituency.

In collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), the Fishery Training and Empowerment Programme took place at the Independence Hall, Abak, where beneficiaries were empowered in Fishery lProduction with equipment including Mobile Fishponds, Fish-Dryers, Fish-Nets, Fingerlings, Top-Feeds, Start up Cash Supports, etc.

Performing the official flag off of the programme, the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo commended Hon. Umanah and wife, Maureen for sponsoring the programme, noting that such gesture would go a long way in eradicating poverty in the Federal Constituency.

Expressing satisfaction with Umanah's representation at the Green Chambers, the State Deputy Governor advanced that the National Assembly member has done more than expected particularly in empowering the people to have a better living.

Enlisting the fulfillment of his campaign promises as the motivation for sponsoring the training, Rep. Umanah enumerated poverty eradication and job creation for his people as an idea he will keep pursuing.

Umanah maintained that the gesture is in support of Governor Udom Emmanuel's food sufficiency and poverty eradication agenda through job creation especially in the area of agriculture.

The Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal lawmaker remarked that teaching the people how to fish for themselves was better than fishing for them, hence his desire to ensure his constituents are trained and empowered in all spheres of life.

He commended the people of the federal constituency for keeping faith with him, noting that more human empowerment programmes for the Federal Constituency are in the pipeline.

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) team led by the State Coordinator, Mr. Promise Ekah lauded Hon. Umanah's ingenuity at engaging his constituents in productive programmes and urged other public office holders to emulate his leadership style.

Beneficiaries of the three days Fishery Training and Empowerment Programme thanked Umanah for considering the socioeconomic wellbeing of the area in strategically positioning them as active players in agriculture and entrepreneurial development.

Stakeholders and royal fathers in the constituency praised Hon. Umanah for being in tune with his constituents and expressed satisfaction with his representation, assuring him of their continuous support.

Recall that ten days ego, the Hon. Member sponsored Free Medical/Surgical outreach across the local government areas of the Federal Constituency in addition to the construction of market stores, town halls, pipeborne water, class room blocks and his 150million naira agricultural and business empowerment grants.

This is commendable. Not like someone that gave out ropes to his constituents
