Here are some old beliefs of Pastor W.F Kumuyi, a renowned holiness and righteousness preacher and the General superintendent of the Deeper life Bible Church which he latter sent into oblivion.

1. TELEVISION;

In the early days of Deeper life church, television was nothing to worry about as it wasn't a common gadget then, only the rich and the influential could afford it so no one talks about it.

As the year goes by, television became a common gadget. The holiness preacher tagged it a "Devil's box" saying it could corrupt the mind of a believer and enjoined his members to do away with it. Television was an abomination for any deeper life member and anyone seen using it is tagged as a backslider.

Things has however changed over the years, Hardly is there any Deeper Life Church without a big TV set used in transmitting some live programs from their headquarter in Lagos to other branches nationwide.

2. STRICT MARITAL RULES;

In the early days of Deeper life, getting married is always a nightmare for its members as there are various rules which are sometimes considered too strict for the common man thus making most of their members getting married too late.

This however has also changed as the cleric cut down on some of the rules some few years ago to allow the sisters and brothers of marriageable age get married quickly.



3. BUYING EXPENSIVE CARS AND CLOTHS;

Using expensive cars was considered as vanity by the preacher as he always enjoins his members to instead chase heavenly things and shun the things of the world.

Things has changed over the years as members of the church now drive in expensive cars and also wear designer cloths contrary to their oversized coats they were used to.



4. USING OF JEWELERIES AND MAKE UPS;

Anyone using a jewelry is never allowed into the Deeper life fold as it is considered an abomination. However things has changed slightly in that aspect as the church doesn't discriminate anymore....
