Es 350 Gear Oil by Nobody: 11:31am On Dec 17, 2020
Hello room. I use lexus Es 350. I have changed the engine oil several times but never changed the gear oil because I am confused ....some mechanic told me never to change it. While some said I have to change it regularly too.
There’s no way to even check the measurement.
Please I need proper advice on what to do and which one to follow

Get a clean white A4 sheet....

Put some few drops of the gear oil in your car on the paper ...

It should be pinkish red ... If it's brown and smells burnt, go and do a complete drain of that oil ....

Get the manufacturer recommended gear oil for your car model and year ...

That's the only way to know when its time to change your gear oil ...

Don't wait till the while transmission packs up ...

The moment u change the oil sef, the gear selection will be smoother ..

And as regards whether it's the right quantity .. the dip stick has some markings to let u know if it's at the correct gauge or 8ts getting low

Thanks.

It doesn’t have a stick. Only a professional can check

If you are in Lagos better take it to a professional workshop. Avoid roadside mechanics or else 600k loading.

How many kilometers is on the Odomoter?
My guess is its above 100 or 150km already.

Like someone said, don't wait until u notice issues before working on it. Be on the offensive and do something about it now.

In your case, I would recommend a simple drain and refill..
Refill with the exact amount that was drained and drive around for about a month and repeat.

This video can guide you. You can do it yourself or supervise a mechanic ASTUTELY as he works on it..

Changing your transmission fluid is important, but you don't have to change it regularly.........

And when you change it, change it with appropriate fluids ONLY .. .......

you don't need to bother your head about gear oil change for your car yet if truly the odometer reading is 90k (except there had been a roll back).
Since you claim there is no dipstick, then your car is fitted with an electric gear (as opposed to cable gear) and the gear oil change indicator will come on eventually on the dashboard when it is due for the next oil change.
At that time, you will need to replace the oil strainer or thoroughly clean it with gasoline for reuse if there is no evidence of damage aside oil replacement.
Take those claiming gear oil change creates problems for gears as morons talking about what they know not.
As long as you use the recommended oil for your car, you can decide to change it monthly if you have a very deep pocket and your car will be the better for it.

you should do a drain and fill now. Just make sure you have a competent mechanic. Do not cheap out when it comes to transmission! Drain and fill every 30k miles
