The Katsina state government says 340 Kankara Secondary School children have been rescued

The government of Katsina State in northern Nigeria said 340 students of Kankara Secondary School were successfully admitted on Thursday night.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, confirmed this to the BBC, saying that children were being transported to Katsina from neighboring Tsafe in Zamfara State.

He added that they would be received in Katsina tonight under the escort of security personnel, and that President Buhari would meet them in Katsina on Friday.

The journey from Tsafe in Zamfara to Katsina is 213 kilometers, a journey that will take about three hours due to poor road conditions. The distance from Tsafe to Kankara where the children were taken is 83 km.

Gunmen stormed a men's boarding school in Kankara on Friday and abducted about 400 children.

Four days later, Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau issued a statement claiming the children had been abducted.

Even on Thursday afternoon, Boko Haram released a video of the students.

In the video, which was first published by the online newspaper HumAngle, one of the students is urging the Nigerian government to withdraw its troops, saying "there is nothing they can do about it."

This kidnap backfire against the government too much that's why they quickly ensure their are returned. The people behind it are in the same government.

I think this would only happen when the citizens have sense, take charge and put their differences aside
I also think that's only when we can have leaders who would stand up for us in their capacity as fathers whom they are, rather than rulers who are only concerned and bothered with the quest to satisfy their insatiable nepotistic and selfish interest
