The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South-West chapter has scored President Muhammadu Buhari zero in terms of the development and welfare of the people of the region.

The party was reacting to the statement made by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity President Muhammadu Buhari that the South West has the highest allocation in the political appointments made by the Buhari administration since 2015.

Adesina in an article titled ‘Buhari At 78: If Only We Knew This President, Adesina had said the evidence put paid to the lies by some critics who claim that President Buhari is nepotistic and that his appointments are skewed in favour of the North.

According to him, facts and figures available shows that the South West was followed by Imo,  Kano, Edo  and Katsina states in the scale of the appointments.

"We chronicled all the appointments made by the President since 2015, and allocated them to states and regions. The result showed that the Southwest had the largest share. Followed by Imo and Kano states. Then Edo and Katsina. And on and on. But the naysayers ignored facts and figures, and stuck to their false narratives" Adesina said.

Responding to Adesina's claim, Lere Olayinka South-West PDP Zonal Director of Media and Publicity said even if the Southwest got the highest allocation of appointments in the Buhari administration, such appointments has not translated to anything in terms of social welfare and development.

The party cited the repair works Lagos- Ibadan expressway which it said the Buhari administration has not completed despite the fact that it was started under the Goodluck Jonathan-led administration in 2014.

He said "That man, Femi Adesina lost it all the very day he opened his mouth and called Nigerians Wailing Wailers". 

"Assuming but not conceding that South-West has the highest number of appointments in this APC govt of President Muhammadu Buhari, has the appointments translated to anything in terms of development of the region and welfare of the people?"

"Of what benefit is political appointments to the generality of the people who cannot provide for themselves a single meal per day?".

"What the South-West people, especially we in the PDP are asking for is a government that will be responsive to the demands of the people in terms of security, provision of jobs,  infrastructural and economic development as well as general welfare of the citizens". 

"In all these,  the APC govt of Buhari has scored zero. People in the South-West region can no longer carry out their farming and other businesses without fear of being killed or kidnapped". 

"The Lagos - Ibadan expressway started in 2014 by the PDP government and meant to be completed within three years is still yet to be completed six years after" the party said.
