Good morning, My sponsor is not related to me but has up to 30m in her acc, is her bank statement and reference letter enough to convince VO that she will sponsor me. Also, can I continue processing EE/PNP with student Visa. Hope I won't be disqualify if I'm processing the 2 at a time Please advise. 1 Like |

For the NSE, can the sponsor have more than the $30k in the acct? As an applicant with September resumption date, can I apply via NSE and it won't look like desperation? Is there any extra visa/processing cost? If I'm getting it right, I'll fill the visa application, upload statement of acct and all, then wait for the embassy to send me NSE request, then I send them IELTS score, mybankstatement ticket with $30k or more, am I correct? RxOtunba: Hello, Your sponsor can have $30k and above. You won't look desperate if you attach the required NSE documents the first time you submit. You can also decide to wait for IRCC to send you the NSE request letter before you upload the documents. I believe the former is better. Goodluck with your application. IT WILL END IN PRAISES IN THE SHORTEST POSSIBLE TIME. 1 Like |

Hello Everyone, My brother was refused in October 2020 based on: A. Family ties in Canada and country of residence B. Purpose of visit Background: He applied for a graduate certificate course in Data Analysis which is different from his first degree - Science Lab. Tech ( I got to know this is not really a career progression after joining this thread). His sponsor who is also a family member is based in Canada, which explains the first reason for refusal. My Question: 1. We want to reapply again for admission and the visa again, should he apply for the same Data Analysis course again? If yes, how do we tackle the career progression problem? If he applies for a course related to his first degree, how do we justify the change in course of study? 2. His family member in Canada would still want to be his sponsor especially with this NSE $30K POF. How can we also respond to this? We already have the GCMS Notes. Awaiting your insightful responses. Thank you all P.S. @Frankrobbin Please I'll like to connect with you, I sent you a request. |

Hi @TheShaman, Thanks again for your response. I want to be crystal clear, my intention for trying to get clarification on this topic is first to learn. I am also interested in helping others avoid wasting time and money, by learning from other people's experiences. Although you didn't pinpoint the exact aspect(s) of my post that may be wrong as requested so I can learn from your opinion I am putting together my thoughts on this topic here, in counter response. In case my original posts were confusing, let me summarize the following key scenarios on this topic; For Online Application, you don't have to pay package transmission fee to send passport upon approval if the biometric was taken at the same vfs centre on that particular application. Just submit your proof of biometric - the long yellow slip - when you send your passport and other requirements. Let's assume this was an all Lagos vfs affair. Following from the example above, if you decided to send your passport to Abuja vfs for stamping upon approval, you MUST pay the N7,430 package transmission fee because of the difference in locations. Let us now assume you mixed this up with a paper application, that would apply to applicants whose previous online applications were unsuccessful then decided to switch to using a paper application route at some point. They will pay the package transmission fee at the point of submitting application. This fact is clearly stated on the vfs website and I quote below; "If you do not need to provide biometrics and you are submitting your passport and/or documents at the Visa Application Centre, the package transmission fee will apply." Most posts of people on this platform usually carry a caveat that it is their own opinion so we don't take it as the gospel truth then later find out it may be flawed. I try to follow in the footsteps of those legends by inserting the source and limitations of my opinion in my earlier post thus; "That is what I believe from the past experiences of people here and those I know personally." To the few specifics of your case I do not think your case and experience is what every other person would normally go through. You did biometric AFTER refusal of your first application. Most (99%) applicants would have done their biometric before getting a decision, at the least. Or would be too distraught to even remember they had already paid for biometric. So you can't use your case to measure how the process works if it is not the common way most people do it. It is just like using the case of someone who got PPR before Medical Request. We can't judge every other case with such an outlier which is exactly what happened in your experience. I want to believe that person would still have to complete the medical exams whether it is requested or not before they get their TRV/SP. Also, we are not sure how your biometric (completed after refusal) was categorised. There will be need to consider a few more questions to help build a better understanding of the way this thing works (or worked in your case). What is taken as part of the first or the second online application? When did the biometric reflect on your CIC profile? How long time lapsed between the first refusal and the second application? I suspect a visa application case is closed once a decision is taken and communicated to the applicant. One theory is that your biometric may have been applied as a fresh one to the second application because of (1) the timing (2) both were submitted online; and (3) your biometric was given at the same place as you sent passport for PPR, or (4) it could just be an administrative mistake/discretion. I will add two case studies here to support my position below; CASE 1 @Anamekele submitted 3 online applications, with a single biometric done in Lagos, that were unsucessful. Upon his 4th application via paper route in Abuja, he was required to pay for package transmission fee and he did before his application was accepted. That application was refused and his passport returned to him while all paper/documents were retained. He went to judicial review, won and resubmitted online with no biometric as the original remains valid for 10 years. He didn't pay for transmission because the 5th one was an online application. However, when he got PPR this time he assumably sent his passport using 2-way courier without a transmission fee for stamping. He was informed within 24/48 hrs that his passport is being returned. When he got back the package - via his paid 2 way courier - he was required to pay for transmission fee. He paid for both the package transmission fee and the VFS in-house courier then resent. He got back his stamped passport within a week. CASE 2 Someone I know did biometric in Lagos but was refused visiting visa twice in 2018. Fast forward 2020, she got a PPR for permanent residency along with her child. This happened through the husband who had been an international student but now has PR in Canada. During submission of the passport for stamping through courier to the same vfs Lagos, it was clearly requested and they paid for package transmission. In conclusion, I didn't make the opinion to sound like a law cast in stone so I am aware I could be wrong in one or more of my assumptions. But I was also speaking from the point of practical examples and stated rules of the processes, that I was familiar with. As usual, ire oh!, it shall end in praise and let the learning continue! Kunja2:As Regards English Test Requirement you see on school websites, ignore it if you are a NIGERIAN If u are a NIGERIAN, u don't need an English Test to apply for admission (PG. Cert/PGD, Masters, PH.D) in Canada, NIGERIA is an English Speaking Country & ur medium of instruction from the University/Polytechnic is English etc. IELTS (English Test) for admission in Canada are meant for countries whose language or official language is not ENGLISH e.g India, China, Philippine , Vietnam etc. GMAT is not required as well. If am right, GMAT & GRE are mostly required for admission to Universities in the U.S. 1 Like |

Can the mybankstatement be for 6months or must it be for 1year. My sponsor's acct was specifically opened for the purpose of my admission, hence, it was opened Jan 29th, 2020. Could it be a red flag if the V.O sees in the reference letter that the account was created just last year? deommanuel: |

Sirkenny44: If I remember correctly, one of the forms I filled didn't have a validate button (kindly check properly at the top and bottom to be extra sure). You can continue with the other forms if you're done. You'll still be asked to sign before submitting your application, so I guess that covers all. |

Frankrobbn1: For the NSE route, is $30,000 CAD sufficient proof of funds for a self-sponsored student going for a 2 year program with 1 year tuition at $25,000 CAD and 1 year living expense at $11,000. CAD? It’s kinda confusing. |

Hi @tojeruky Sorry to hear about the experience and delay. I am a learner on this platform so I urge you to redirect your questions to more qualified legends in the house. However, I will offer my own little opinion on your questions and pose one or two questions to you as well to enable other respondents better help you. "1. Can I secure a Masters in Canada with that CGPA? If yes, kindly share any step by step guide or tips for success." If your reported CGPA of 3.6 is for a BSc and out of a total of 4, which I assume would be a first class, then Yes. But that is highly unlikely for the educonsultant to say, so I suspect your meant 3.6/5.0. In that case, your CGPA would be a 2.1 which is also very qualified for a Master degree application. In fact, we have seen somone report on here that they got Masters admission in Canada with 2.2 grade/CGPA. You need to provide more details about your actual grades and discipline - both for Bsc and the planned Msc for people to better analyse and respond. "2. Can I appeal or contest my student visa refusal? If yes, please share any ideas or ways to go about it." Yes but it is a very costly, risky and time consuming route especially for a single refusal without cogent argument to challenge the situation. You may just be wasting time and money. The usual advice on this platform is that you should request your GCMS notes, understand the specific concerns of the VO and repackage your application to address those reasons, before reapplication. Ire oh! It shall end in praises. |
