We focus too much on certificates and credentials while encouraging ourselves to embrace entrepreneurship.

Why should I train to become a chartered accountant just to end up as an entrepreneur?

Why should I go through the stress of passing an accounting exam that is meant to equip me with skills to perform a specialised task, but instead end up producing/selling electric cars, Android apps, liquid soap, small chops, waist beads, human hair and makeup?

Why should I pay annual dues to ICAN or any of these professional bodies, when infact my aim is to own a garment factory or become a fashion designer at least?

What happened to vocational and technical schools? We should be encouraged to attend these institutes If they wanted us to become any of the above.
We have lost focus and we should stop deceiving ourselves. They should just close the Universities and stop awarding Bachelors.

You don't get it
ICAN trained you in accounting, financial management, performance management, etc. You should be able to leverage what you learned in those courses to make a successful entrepreneur. You need to get it, it's better to be an entrepreneur than an employee
ICAN told you the truth. If you don't get it now, 20 years down the line you will and then it might be too late for you

ICAN trained you and you should leverage on it to make a successful entrepreneur by establishing your own accounting and financial management firm. Not to be producing make-up and perfume.
How many exams did successful Igbo, Yoruba and co business men passed? The Igbo apprenticeship system has made more billionaires than our formal educational system.

We have lost focus, period

If you listen to this counsel and not fight against it as you are now you will save yourself from alot of pain later. I won't force my opinion on you because you already have strongly assumed opinion.

He meant follow the advice you got from ICAN. Put your certificates under your box and start thinking of entrepreneurship to avoid more tears in the near future.

Scammers grin
I'd rather follow the example of Yomi Casual.
Earn a degree in textiles or fashion if you want to become a tailor.
Study Industrial Chemistry if you want to hustle as a soap maker.

...
Learn how to make waist beads if you plan to work as a runs girl. grin Just kidding, but you get the point.

They are telling you the truth and you are still feeling entitled..if the generations before you had created businesses then there would be demand for the services of a chartered accountant ..Remember only a successful business can afford to keep a chartered accountant to man it's books especially in these days where small businesses can use quickbook applications to manage their books without any help of an accountant

Am surprised youve not come to accept reality that is hitting us as a nation.

When people are developing apps that covers a whole degree courses in accounting and simplifying it in such a way that primary school pupil can operate, what then do you expect.

The reality is that most courses we read in our university belong to the past when manpower is require in carrying out basic task, but all that are not require now and that is the reality.

It is better you accept this bitter pill before hunger becomes your companion

The government started it....

Stole job slots and gave to their kids and when the people protested, they claimed that the slot was for professionals and educated ones.....

The poor decided to farm harder to sponsor their kids into school too...

They got their kids as graduates, the government inturn decided to create minor agencies to employ the kids of the poor farmers and created better establishment to employ their kids....

Now, the government is choked..... It's left for the poor kids to create their own jobs by themselves.

yes, even there's no job for the poor kids. I repeat no jobs for them. 99.9% of graduates in Nigeria are self-employed.

The government bribed the poor kids with Npower scheme program that isn't pensionable......

And the government will claimed that they provided jobs opportunities.... Jobs that is durable and only on minimal amount of money....
