The JF-17 Block 2, the second iteration of the fighter, was considered comparable in its capabilities to the F-16, although the more modern F-16C variants did enjoy some flight performance advantages which came at the expense of higher maintenance requirements and a lower sortie rate. The JF-17 did retain a number of other advantages however, including a higher operational altitude and far superior anti ship capabilities due to the types of munitions it had access to such as the C-802 cruise missile. Of approximately 65 F-16s in Pakistan service however, only 18 of Pakistan’s F-16s are of the more modern F-16C standard - with the remainder being of the older F-16A variant which lack the modern sensors, avionics and electronic warfare systems or the endurance of their successors. Thus the F-16C formed what was arguably the small elite of the Pakistani Air Force, exceeding the capabilities of the original F-16A in beyond visual range combat as well as, by a smaller margin, those of the JF-17 Block 2.

With the JF-17 Block 3 fighter unveiled in December 2019, and expected to enter service from around 2022, the aircraft will outperform all existing Pakistani fighters, the F-16C included, by a considerable margin. While the new aircraft has a new engine and makes more use of light composite materials for a superior flight performance, including the ability to exceed Mach 2 speeds, the platform’s most significant improvements are arguably those made to its beyond visual range capabilities.

There are indications that Nigeria may order for additional 40 JF17 after delivery of the three initially ordered.

If you like order for Apache... No terrorist will be allowed in our region. Any hostile group will be resisted before the game changer go surface. All will be fair by that time.

Good that we finally have an F class fighter jet enlisted into our military inventory.

With this F-16, we will gain more territory from the terrorists and bandits.

It's time for us to invest into research and harvest the technological talents that abound in our country.

There is much air drag on the JF-17 as shown on the video. The JF-17 cannot survive 3 minutes of dogfight against ace fighter pilot in F-16.

F-16, F-17, Augusta or Apache Heli, they are all useless as long as BH and the army share the same commander in chief. Is it not in Nigeria that a president said a fight against BH is a fight against the north? Make una continue to deceive una self there.

It all comes down to the pilots. The jf17 can stand on its own in a classic dodfight I only see the f16 edging it in a beyond visual range engagement

Those terrorists don't know what will be hitting them soon. Those fighter jets will be rendered useless by bombing them into oblivion at their packing tarmac, that's if the US will release it to them. They will be located and taken off before they will have any chance to fly into Biafran territories. They should go and ask how Israel won the 6days war against all the Arab countries.

Mumu, go and get more territories from bokoharam first. Bokoharam will soon sieze those fighter jets from your incompetent terrorists in army uniforms. Those fighter jets are easy targets if ever the US releases them to you biffoons. We shall take you, terrorists, by surprise by bombing them to oblivion at the tarmacs where they are packed.

So somehow Boko Haram hasn’t seized a single alpha jet yet their going to now claim a 4th generation fighter jet makes a lot of sense doesn’t it, see how foolish you sound it’s as if some nigerians want Boko Haram to win, it’s honestly disgusting

Did you watch the video? Jf-17 could not make tight turns and needed the entire airspace to pull gs in such maneuver. Jf-17 goes into the spiral on high speed to avoid stalling in low attitude. In such a maneuver, a pilot in F-16 will outmaneuver Jf-17 and take it out with Cal.50 not even missile.
