Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo visited National Social Housing Plan Model House sites in Abuja.

The Vice President commended the management and staff of the Family Homes Funds and encouraged them to be steadfast towards making houses available for Nigerians.

One of the key elements of the Economic Sustainability Plan drafted by the Osinbajo-led NEC is the Social Housing Scheme which is expected to provide over 300,000 homes priced as low as N2 million, create about 1.8 million jobs and bridgegap the country's housing deficit.

Individuals who get the opportunity to participate in the project will earn a minimum of N75,000 a month as labourers.

So far, about 20 states have indicated interest in participating in the scheme.

It is worthy of note that one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments under the scheme could be purchased for N1.4 million and N1.8 million respectively and citizens could pay as low as N8,000 per month to purchase the houses.

This initiative is aimed at reducing the country's housing deficit and create job.
