Explosives intercepted in Delta

The police in Asaba, Delta State, yesterday nabbed two policemen and a driver of a Kia Rio car that was conveying guns, explosives and grenades to Bayelsa State from Delta.
The Commissioner of Police Alhaji Mamman Tsafe said the ammunitions which included a Rocket Propelled Grenade, five dynamites, 25 cartridges, seven single barreled guns and two double barreled guns, were procured for Saturday’s elections and others to come. The commissioner’s submission was corroborated by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Charles Muka, who confirmed the incident yesterday in Asaba.

A source disclosed that two policemen escorted the car with an aide to a prominent candidate in one of the political parties that were apprehended by the police at a checkpoint in Patani axis in Delta State. Patani council had been in the news lately. In January, a top member of the PDP and former Transition Committee Chairman of the council, Mr Paul Atie was shot dead. Muka refused to disclose the names of the culprits and their sponsors, saying “three young men were arrested” at Patani with arms and are presently being interrogated by the police in Asaba.

Does this suggest any plan for fairness in the elections? When is NIGERIA going to grow up and stop all this rubbish?

i dont believe news like these, the police have been catching people in the past few weeks without mentioning names or showing evidence, just rushing to press to get some positive brownie point

nobody has ever been charged, nobody has been sentenced, no weapon has been shown to the public, nothing just empty press releases mtcheeew

Something tells me the criminals found in possession of explosives must be from the northern part of the country. This is the whole truth!

Why is the Police withholding the names of the culprits and their sponsors

I just hate those men in black because of their dishonesty. They never seem to do anything right.

Three simple questions:

Why can't Mr. Charles Muka disclose the names of the culprits?

Who is this so called 'prominent candidate?

Why do they always protect these 'big men' involved in all these?

Since the history of our democracy, not a single name of one 'big man' has ever been mentioned in a case like this and the cases always fade away. Trust me, those weapons will eventually be escorted by even more policemen until they reach their intended destinations and are used for their intended purpose.

For how long will Nigerians continue to be fooled in the hands of our leaders? We really need to replace these crop of leaders who all belong to the same cabal and always protect themselves with the police.

I am tired of hearing people blame the government even when a crime if being committed by the ordinary evil citizens. The average Nigerian man or woman is wicked. When did killing and maiming become our thing? Its the inherent wickedness in us that is manifesting. Imaging a boy sending assassins to kill his girlfriend because she said she wants out. Imagine a friend poisoning his own best friend because they had a successful business deal and he wants all the money to himself. Or a girl giving another girl an acid bath because of a man. The get-there-by-all-means syndrome among our politicians is a reflection of the larger society because these guys are part of the society. Come to think of it, how much money or power can justify or quantify the lives these guys waste? I am sure they've forgotten that heaven and hell is real. God help us.

Some one I know very well went to NYSC orientation camp to deliver a free lecture, and the officials there were asking him for money before he could do that. And somebody will come to blame the goverment for everything bad.
Re: Policemen Caught With Explosives And Grenades In Delta. by DisGuy: 6:42pm On Apr 01, 2011
^^ well if teh govt provides an environment where the police and officials cant be prosecuted promptly they wont get the blame
but we have a society where people feel they can do many things and get away with it, the govt should clamp down on criminals and ensure we have fast and transparent prosecuting service!

the policeman in this case is a reflection of the govt, incompetent report about 'people arrested with weapons alsmost everyday without any record of convictions, is it the people that should prosecute them or the govt

STUPID , FOOLISH , GREEDY, CORRUPT NIGERIAN POLICE, I HATE THEM ALL.

THEY ALWAYS TELL US SOMEONE WAS CAUGHT WITH EXPLOSIVES AND ALL THAT, THAT'S embarassedTHE END OF THE STORY, WE DON'T GET TO HEAR THE RESULT OF INVESTIGATION OR WHO IS BEHIND THE BOMBS AND STUFF.

WHY DO THEY BOTHER TO TELL US IN THE FIRST PLACE? THEY SAY NOBODY IS ABOVE THE LAW SO WHY NOT MENTION THE NAMES ? WHO ARE THEY AFRAID OF?

THE GREATEST PROBLEM NIGERIA FACES TODAY US CAUSED BY THE POLICE. SMUGGLING ARMS, ASSISTING CRIMINALS, ENDANGERING THE LIFE OF CITIZENS.

BOTH THOSE THAT WERE CAUGHT AND THOSE THAT CAUGHT THEM ARE ALL GUILTY .
tongue tongue lipsrsealed

plz does anyone observe how lenient our laws are to offenders.is it helping to curb corruption or encourage it.how can someone steal billions and is handed down 6 months inprisonment? can dis prevent people from engaging in similar crimes? no.and again has anyone observed how corrupt our law enforcement agents are while on duty? by this i mean the police which we come in contact with on daily basis.they arrest u for an offence the next munite there is unofficial negociation ie bribe to let go.and the breakdown of law and order continues.we have a veeeeery big problem here because it happens in every ministry and parastatals all over nigeria.to me nigeria should be on top of corruption list of countries despite all the noise about fight against it.we should look into severe punishment or penalties for law breakers notwithstanding who is affected.
Re: Policemen Caught With Explosives And Grenades In Delta. by oscartawn1: 10:09am On Apr 04, 2011
The police may be more interested in negotiating with the "BIG MAN" and cut a deal that will fill their pockets rather than EXPOSE the criminal. It's a shame!
