I dislike reading or discussing any topic pertaining to the civil war.
Ha! We igbo's lost a lot and even till now we haven't recovered from those losses.
I don't wish us to have to experience any thing of that nature.
When my parents and grandparents recount their experiences and losses that occurred during and after the war I weep.
Please, we can have anything we want without going to war.
My dad still has a pellet from the war inside his leg.
My mum said she was 8 years of age when she saw a woman drowinig her own child because the child refused to stop crying and if nothing was done, that child's cry would have exposed them in the pond they were hiding in.
Just from one pathetic story to another.
Is it Grandparents who forever lament their losses due to the war.
I pray that peace will always reign in our hearts and environs and that love and tolerance will heal all hurts. Blessings evergreen.

Kai sad

No more ever again

Amen to that

Wait did ojukwu starve the people? Are you sure?

I thought it was Nigeria that initiated a blockade

That's what I was led to believe

Yes ojukwu starved those people.
He should have planned enough to know the possible outcomes of the war.
He should have gathered enough international support before starting a war.
He should have gathered enough resources to fight the war
He should have made enough provision for his people before going to war
He should have started defensive which was more efficient than wasting resources attacking
He should not have bragged about his capabilities when he's not capable
Natural response to weaken Biafra was to blockade it, it's as natural as breathing and if ojukwu tells us he didn't see that coming then he's either a drool or a devil.

No I don't believe this

I refuse to

This cannot be true

What sort of monster would do such ? It is a lie I do not believe this or rather I can't believe this

If this is true do you realize what you are saying ?

Ojukwu was a beast then and monster

That's the unbiased rendition of events that took place in that war dude. Ojukwu wanted the Biafran state to remain at any cost, so much so that he was willing to sacrifice as many igbos as necessary. He realized early on that images of starving and emaciated Biafran kids could be a very powerful propaganda tool, and he maximized it to the fullest, in the hopes that it would shame the Nigerian side into pariah status in the eyes of the world, and hopefully lead to an outcome that would favour the Biafrans. Unfortunately, that strategy failed.

That is why your governors, politicians, senators, house of rep took their hands off anything Igbos or anything that will bring civil war.

Because they experience it and were affected in one way or the other.

What we still refuse to realize in Africa is that these whites or whatever we like to call them don't give a rat shit about Africa as long as they make profit off the continent. They would not respond to Biafra dilemma cos they don't see it putting anything in their pockets

He refused to accept food from the Nigerian side, arguing that the Nigerian government would poison the food. And the food that still managed to enter Biafra from Nigeria was cornered and hoarded by the soldiers (who kept them for themselves and their families) who refused to share them with the civilians.

When the Nigerian side realized this, it decided that since it was the soldiers that were feeding fat on the humanitarian relief and food, why continue feeding the soldiers so that they can continue fighting a war they can't win, when the food wasn't even getting to those that needed it the most - - the starving Biafran civilians.

What a lie. History has it that the supply of food to nndigbo from Nigeria was blocked. How then did food enter for ojukwu to reject?

Sometimes, the uselessness of Nigeria tends to have a mental effect of those who believe in the country. Don't you think? How can ojukwu starve the people he was fighting for? undecided

Igbos = No Level.

They never fought war before, yet they went into war without tactics. grin

Awolowo only made 1 statement that changed everything.

Yoruba soldiers at Ore only did few tactics that made the Biafra soldiers not to enter Yoruba land

Yet they refuse to learn a thing or two from Yorubas, Benins, Germanys, US, UK, France.

All the aforementioned have been fighting wars before 1900.
They have had their own government, laws, army before 1900. Not the Igbos wey British
just discovered them in 1914 grin

Thank God for British in their lives grin

true true....they had no experience in it....
yorubas have been fighting wars before then....
northerners will just declare jihad on you....

I always shake head when they talk about Ilorin.

They didn't know Ilorin was an outpost of Oyo empire and not a cultural town initially.

I don't expect them to know the meaning of outpost in a war since they don't have experience in it before.
Benin people, British, americans, France and Germany would understand the meaning of out post town.

war is an state where a narcissitic leader lead gullible masses to fight for him inorder to fulfill his selfish goal and aspiration.
