* 3 killed, houses burnt
* IGP, Makinde ask CP to arrest Igboho, others

A woman and two children were reportedly killed yesterday when youths allegedly led by Sunday Igboho, attacked Fulani communities in Iganga, Ibarapa North of Oyo State as the seven-day ultimatum given to them elapsed.

Daily Trust Saturday learnt that security operatives were earlier stationed around the Fulani communities, but they were overpowered by the youths who invaded the settlements and burnt houses and cars.

The Sarkin Fulani, Alhaji Salihu Kadiri, disclosed to our correspondent that his palace and many houses were razed.

“As I am talking to you, I am hiding somewhere in the bush. We fled for our lives when we learnt that they were coming. They burnt my cars and those of my children. They also killed an old woman, who I learnt may be my first wife.

“As at now, I cannot give you the details of the people we lost to this attack because we are still hiding,’’ he said.

Aliyu Salihu Kadiri, one of the children of the Sarkin Fulani, who also spoke with Daily Trust Saturday via phone from where he was hiding, confirmed that three people were killed during the attack.

“They burnt our communities. And we are afraid that our children, wives and aged people who could not run may have been killed”, he said.

Mustapha Aliyu Moddibo, a resident of Iseyin, told our correspondent that Fulani communities in the area are not safe.

Chairman of Miyetti Allah in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Jiji described the incident as unfortunate, urging government to find lasting solutions to Fulani-farmers unrest in the state.

But one of the media aides to Chief Sunday Igboho, who spoke with our correspondent on condition of anonymity, said, the incident must have happened after his master had left Igangan, saying; “Sunday Igboho was there not to fight but to appeal to both sides and assure Yoruba residents that there won’t be problem.”

The Spokesman of the Oyo Police Command, Oluwagbeniga Fadeyi promised to investigate and get back to our correspondent, but couldn’t confirm the development at the time of filing this report.

Speaking to the Hausa Service of the BBC, presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, said the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had directed the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mrs Ngozi Onadeko, to arrest Igboho.

Also, Governor Seyi Makinde yesterday asked the commissioner of police to arrest Igboho who gave the Fulani an ultimatum to leave the South-West.

He said his government would not allow anyone hiding under the guise of protecting Yoruba interest to cause ethnic tension and perpetuate crisis in the state.

Makinde’s directive is coming on the heels of renewed threats by Igboho that the Fulani must leave the entire Yoruba land over their alleged involvement in kidnappings and other criminal activities.

He maintained that the type of war the state and security agencies needed to wage is not against any particular ethnic group but criminal elements, irrespective of their tribes, religions or creed.

The governor added that his administration would not allow anyone to threaten the peace of the state by acting unlawfully and saying things that are alien to the Nigerian constitution. He noted that acts that are capable of causing chaos in the state would not be accepted.

“The people stoking ethnic tension are criminals, and once you get them, they should be arrested and prosecuted.

“For this administration, the major pillar for us is security because we know that all the good economic plans we have won’t be possible in an atmosphere of chaos and insecurity.

“So, when people say things that are neither lawful nor within the spirit of Nigeria’s constitution, it is not acceptable here. And they cannot hide under the guise of protecting Yoruba’s interest to perpetuate chaos in the state.

“I am sure that since you came in, you must have heard about some things happening in the Ibarapa axis of the state. I will still say it here that we are not after Hausa-Fulani. We are after criminals,” the governor said.

angry more attacks are on the way as long as those barbarians have refused to live a civilized way of life in the 21st century. An ethnic group not up to 15million wrecking havoc and destruction all over a country of over 150 million because they have illegally occupied all political cum economic positions in the country. Buhari thinks he is doing good to the Fulanis, let him step down and see how his people would be detested and isolated.
The very few responsible Fulani's know this, that's why they would want power to remain in the north at all cost, but they would fail. angry

Today it is the Fulanis

Tomorrow it might be your tribe.

Let us not support bigotry. The fire of bigotry burns without discrimination.

(And no, I don't support Fulani kidnappers, and Fulani kidnappers should be jailed for kidnapping, just as kidnappers from other tribes. But innocent fulanis should be let alone).

In the North, the Fulanis through their elites like El Rufai warns everyone and anyone about the consequences of attacking a fulani man,

But down south, our very useless and spineless elites are always ready to sell us out,

How many times have Buhari arrested Miyeti allah? Chai Makinde fall my hand

Why killing women and children who are soft targets in fulani settlement? That's cowardly.

Anyway, the fulanis also killed Biafran women and children in 1966 with the aid of yoruba soldiers.

Two tribes formerly united in hate for the East, now at each other's throat.

Okay, don't complain when the fire one starts burns everyone.

After all the soluton is simple...land reform, ranching, better funding of the police, etc...or anarchy.

Once upon a time in this country, Hasuas decided to punish Ibos for 'murdering their leaders'...and we ended up with 4 years of brutal war, and lots of dead people...some of whom were Hausas.

Maybe they would have been alive if the punishment was restricted to the actual murderers, not the whole tribe.

See Rwanda, once upon a time, it was fashionable to call Tutsis the same names we are using for FUlanis. We all know what happened next....

And by the way, I did not agree when any tribe , Hausa , Yoruba, Ibo, etc...gives other tribes quit notice. So, not just Fulanis for me. Any tribe. If I am the last Nigerian to stand against all forms of bigotry, so be it. I will be that man. I don't effing want another round of tribal based anarchy. I don't want this country to become Rwanda writ large.

If your tribe is given a quit notice, I will be against it. If your tribe gives quit notices, I will be against it.

Dude the fire is already burning!
The north is GONE
A few local governments were about to go in Oyo State, are you guys blind or under some type of spell?
If you are kidnapped don't bother going to the police, just look for the head of Fulanis in the area and commence negotiations,

But you are a black man, you can withstand any type of condition, afterall we were slaves to the world for 450 years

Well, we can just simply fund the police better, empower them to go against kidnappers better, provide economic reforms and so on.

Not play Hutu Power games.

Are you done facing your own governors and elites who are Kanu's biggest obstacles?
Or is arguing with Yoruba Muslims your own contribution to the struggle?

The only way you can avoid another 'Rwanda' or 'Biafra' is to divide the country peacefully possibly through a plebiscite/referendum which has been done in this country before.
You cannot continue to bottle up unagreeable people in a Nigerian cage and expect peace to reign. It's self-deceit.
The nigerian national anthem is now boring and even induces sleep. I can't even remember most of the words anymore.

Denying these truisms is simply postponing the evil day. If you don't do it now, the next generation will either do it or go to war.

The last protest to fund the police ended in bloodshed,
The Hutu's in this case are the fulani who are in power to massacre other tribes,
The genocide succeeded because the government in power was Hutu!
Why don't you read about Rwanda's story again, you got the story all wrong!
