This would have been a good means of generating foreign for the country but is it enough for domestic uses.
The question should be away from house building and maybe now the bamboo dry tissue factory in Akwa Ibom, which other company in Nigeria make use of it.

These kinds of things should not generate media interest. That scares off some investors. If they feel that supply is political and could change with a change in government, they either pull out or refuse to sign long term contracts.

Good move
What's good about the move. Only unproductive nation with no interest in creativity will seek to export everything it sees as raw material. That bamboo stick will be turned to finished product and import back to Nigeria at higher cost or used to develop a foreign land. If bamboo serve some potent economic value, why not try and learn about the creative way it is employed, then use it here.

There is a dry bamboo tissue paper factory already in the state and you can also create your own factory too.
Stop complaining too much and get to work.
