Blogger is a good platform but more tilted towards hobby blogging than anything. Sadly, its downsides are greater than its benefits. If you one takes out the fact that it is free away, there are no other things that Blogger provides that makes it worth the while.

1. It is greatly limited and restricted.
2. A single DCMA notice against one of your contents can get your whole blog deleted.
3. Safe to say you are at the mercy of Blogger and your level of control is only about 5%.
4. Customizations are limited.
5. A new WordPress Blog will outrank a new Blogger blog if started on the same day (from previous experiences).
6. Media attachments and manipulation are greatly limited that it makes it difficult when compared WordPress.

Anyone who is very serious about blogging will not take Blogger serious in this day and time. And migrating from Blogger to WordPress will hurt a blog's ranking when it is initiated. Some blogs never recover from it.

I wouldn't recommend Blogger for serious blogging.

There's nothing wrong with blogger except a few limitations.

A well designed blogger blog is better than many wordpress blogs that don't run on quality hosts

No plugins are available for blogger

Don't mind anyone who says blogger does not rank on google, it's false. Google owns blogger and does that makes sense?

If you can afford it, go for wordpress. Else stay on blogger
