An ex-president can actually be impeached, that will bar him from ever contesting for any public office and which also strip him of his entitlement as an ex-president.
Removal only won't bar him from future office.

They fear Trump so much.

They had to rig election with mail in votes before he could be removed.

Yet they still fear him.

Lol
@bolded , they can't charge him to court because there is nothing to charge him with. If not, they would have done so like before now.

Democrats are just grasping at straws because they know Trump is coming back in 2024, and his supporters are still around and not going anywhere soon. Take out Trump and it will be an easy ride for the Democrats in 2024 because Republicans won't find someone with a strong following than him and the Democrats knows this.

It's one of the reasons majority of the Republicans that supported the impeachment initially are now tracking back one by one. Because he's helping the Democrats to take out Trump would be detrimental to themselves
Trump is not coming back in 2024 and will be irrelevant in months to come.He has always lost the popular vote and will not even win in 2024 that is if he is not criminally charged before then.

Any President can be impeached whether you currently hold office or not, for past, it would be in his record to have been impeached and you might end up forfeiting all benefits supposed to be accrued to ex-presidents. Let him still be making mouth in his post trump era and not be building bridges.

even if by any means, the senate trial did hold, Trump won't be removed because his removal needs to be voted in by 2/3 senate members and not by a simple majority. The Democrats won't get 2/3 members vote, So either way, it's still a waste of time grin
Everyone knows the coward Gop will not convict but we all wanna see the lame defence Trump and his minions will bring lol I love how the republican party is destroying itself

Same arrogance from the opposition brought him to power in 2016, I'm sure the Democrats now know his influence, so they dare not underestimate him again. That is why they are doing everything possible to take him out of the picture all together. grin

Even the DNC won't open their mouth waaa and boldly say that Trump will become irrelevant in coming months grin grin
No dey talk that one for outside, na animal talk. grin

In addition, popular vote don't do jack shit in US election, the electoral vote is the koko, so him and the Republicans don't care. The majority of recent Republican presidents have been winning the election without popular votes, so e no matter

You can only impeach sitting president na. Can you go and impeach Obama now? Does that make sense to you? What section of the law is that written in the US constitution? Even the Democrats themselves are still at cross roads on how to proceed. They are just using the impeachment talk as a source of distraction from the real issues at hand in their country, like most government do.

The Senate does not lose its power to hold an impeachment trial just because the official is no longer in office, Tribe said, in part because it has the authority to disqualify the person from holding future office...i culled that from washinghton post.. You can use google for further clarification.

As far as Trump impeachment is concerned, no one has any clear cut part on how to proceed , as far as their constitution is concerned. All those news paper piece are opinion articles here and there, taking sides. This is one of those situations in law that the law becomes blind. I don't know the term that lawyers call it.

Even though Trump won't be convicted, (Because Democrats won't get the votes they need for that to happen) but assuming it eventually does, na supreme court the case go end. And if those ones should go by the letter of the law, it will be overturned based on lack of jurisdiction and technicalities, as per you can't remove something that is not there.

The whole impeachment saga is a Joke and Trump knows it.

Infact, they enjoy the attentions. And court case could take years and years and they can appeal the court's decision if it goes against them.

Even though there are technicalities involved, as the law is not defined on it for the US constitution, but i would want it so possible, frankly it would keep leaders on their toes. Ordinarily all over the world, impeaching any president, current or past is a very long call always seeming impossible to achieve more reason why military prefer to take over esp for african countries.

Absolutely, the whole thing is a joke.

One would think Trump is still the president, cheesy as you have quite rightly said, they cannot impeach an unpresiding president. They might aswell impeach Obama, Clinton, Bush, Kennedy and washington.
