True to his words and in fulfillment of his promise to work till the last day of his tenure, outgoing VC, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba continues in his commitment to full delivery on all his promises. Even as his valedictory week commenced on Monday 1st February, 2021, he did not relent in his march towards building the young AE-FUNAI to world class University.

It is in this spirit of diligence that ground breaking for the new University library was placed as top priority in the valedictory week activities. Prof. Nwajiuba promised to build a new library for the University before he leaves and he laid the foundation and mandated the contractor to make sure the library is completed before or by June, 2021, asserting that all necessary provisions have been made to ensure that happens. According to him it is God’s approval that he gives the University a new library before his exit.” I said I will not leave without giving the University a library and God has answered the prayer”, he enthused.

Rev. Fr. Peter Agbo, Catholic Chaplain of the University prayed on the foundation, and for the University Community, asking God to make the vision of the outgoing VC, Prof. Nwajiuba for a new library complex in record time, possible to the glory of God. After which VC laid the foundation block, supported by the pioneer SUG President, Mr. Okafor.

Next in the line-up of the activities for the session were commissioning of the new complete University Arts Theatre Complex and Faculty of Education (Classroom Block). While commissioning the classroom blocks at the Faculty of Education, he said he had a dream of a Faculty of Education with male dominance different from what is trending in other Institution where Faculties of Education are like girls secondary schools.

After commissioning the new building, Prof. Nwajiuba came to the convocation Arena, now Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe Convocation Arena to take photographs with individual Staff and groups to mark AE-FUNAI 1st Monday of the month Native Dress Day and the last for the iniator of the laudable tradition, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba as Vice-Chancellor of the University.
