The Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission is seeking the support of China to fund the N2.1trn 3050MW Mambilla hydropower project.

Speaking at a forum on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria, Chairman Governing Council, NIPC, Babangida Nguroje, described China as the number one importer to Nigeria, valued at about $12bn as of 2019 and number nine exporter from Nigeria valued at $1.6bn within the period.

He said China had been a top investor with a focus on Africa and in particular, Nigeria, as its number one Foreign Direct Investment interest.
