FIFA Club World Cup: Junior Ajayi Stars As Al Ahly Claim Third Position


Nigeria forward Junior Ajayi put up a fine performance as Al Ahly claimed third position in the FIFA Club World Cup following a 3-2 penalty shootout win against Palmeiras in the third-place match on Thursday, reports Completesports .com.

Ajayi, who was making his first appearance in the competition for the African champions took the place of
Congo Democratic Republic striker Walter Bwalya in the 58th minute.

The 25-year-old had a chalked off for offside in the 67th minute.


The game finished 0-0 after 90 minutes of energy sapping football action.


Ajayi took Ahly’s last kick in the shootout to put the North Africans 3-2 ahead before Felipe Melo missed for Palmeiras.

Ahly made history as the first African and second non-European/South American team to win two medals in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Inferiority complex no go gree dem. They'd rather call a player from amateur league in europe where as some African clubs like Al ahly are more successful than many top clubs in that Europe. And many Africa clubs like AS Vita and the other one of D.R Congo, Mamelodi sundown are far richer than many top European clubs.
