Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle has advised his Niger State counterpart, Abubakar Sani Bello, to emulate him in initiating a peace deal with bandits in the state.

Addressing State House reporters in Abuja after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, he said he realised that not all of bandits were criminals after his decision to initiate a peace deal with the bandits.

He said: “I’ve been calling my colleague the Governor of Niger State, to sit down with all stakeholders and find out the root cause of the crisis so that they can be able to dialogue and initiate reconciliation so as to also achieve what I’ve been able to achieve in my State.

“Most of the criminals that caused trouble in Zamfara, were not form my State. Two months back, we had some repentant bandits who submitted their weapons to the State government. One was fromm Yobe State, two from Kaduna, two form Niger State; so, you see, it’s a gang.

“In any case, we’re in discussions with the governor of Niger State and he’s following the steps so as to initiate a peace deal and very soon we shall see an end to such crisis.”

Matawalle said the current challenge might not be resolved if the herders continued to move from one state to the other in search of greener pasture.

The matawalle of a governor is quite a character

After allegedly paying millions in dollars to these same bandits thereby empowering them with money to buy more ammunition to terrorise an already disorganised state

The North will get what they are asking for , it's coming to them

Mattewalle of a governor may likely be their ring leader. Since he became governor, banditry has flourished so much under him without hindrance.

He pays them millions of dollars as a peace deal, they move to other States. Now they have moved from zamfara to Niger state, that is the game plan.

Now when they pay them millions of dollars again, they move to maybe Gombe and so on like that. They have enough 19 States to move around and be collecting millions. When there is no more state to move to,they start from ground zero again,by then matewalle would left office, and another governor is advised to pay them again and the business continues.

North is the problem of north.

They should also consider peace talks with armed robbers, kidnappers, yahoo boys, paedophiles... This is rubbish coming from a Governor. What has these useless peace talks done for Zamfara? has the banditry stopped? This Governor is supposed to be sent to prison 'cause he's a terrorist, but it's just that he has immunity.

These people have thrown the country into chaos, at least the northern part, yet abokkis fail to notice they rather concern themselves with matter of the south.

It's only a mad man that would chase rats while his house is on fire.

Until Nigerian govt adopt the no negotiation with terrorist policies, these attacks would never stop.

Peace deal with terrorists!!!!! It's quite clear that these northern leaders are the one funding banditry and terrorism just to keep on impoverishing that region. How do we find ourselves aligning with these set of backward people. Peace deal and negotiation with terrorists in 21st millennium. Nigeria is in problems

Na today, kidnapping has become a lucrative business for our politicians, that's why government has never said anything about the fulani headmen and kidnapping because there are working together

Governor Bello Matawalle should be impeached! I don't trust that man! PDP is an evil party! God will never forgive that party, its members and all its supporters!

If you are a PDP supporter here, you are a bloody terrorist! The wrath of God Almighty shall befall all of you! Keep encouraging terrorism!

Nigeria go better.

These governors have a motive, how can you be pampering criminals. Common sense is not common at all. If u pamper them, it'll encourage others to take up arms and go into Kidnapping. Let's know what we're doing ó. Stop handling these guys with kid gloves.

Is this not the same governor that denied negotiating with bandits?

Nigeria is a joke under this administration, you kill innocent protesters and mount heavy checkpoints in the east yet the not is without enough security in the north yet you use the proceeds from niger delta oil to pay Islamic bandits and terrorists
