At least 800 people were reportedly killed in Ethiopia as worshippers and soldiers risked their lives to protect what Christians there say is the sacred Ark of the Covenant from local militia.

Ethiopian Christians claim the Ark — the wooden chest built to hold the Ten Commandments of Moses — is being kept safe in a chapel in the holy northern city of Axum in the Tigray region.

The battle between Ethiopian soldiers and rebel fighters happened in the fall, The Sunday Times reported, but it is only being reported now.

“When people heard the shooting they ran to the church to give support to the priests and others who were there protecting the ark,” Getu Mak, a local university lecturer, told The Times.

“Certainly some of them were killed for doing that.”

Little was known about the deadly siege since Tigray is cut off from the world and journalists had been blocked from entering the region.

A deacon residing in Axum told the Associated Press he helped count the bodies, gathered victims’ identification cards and assisted with burials in mass graves.

The battle between Ethiopian soldiers and rebel fighters resulted in at least 800 deaths.

He believes that an estimated 800 people were killed at the church and around the city.

“If you attack Axum, you attack first of all the identity of Orthodox Tigrayans but also of all Ethiopian Orthodox Christians,” Wolbert Smidt, an ethnohistorian who specializes in the region, told the AP.

" My People are Destroyed for lack of Knowledge"
Hosea 4:6

People of GOD we need to take off the veil of certain things off our Eyes.
The Price JESUS Christ paid on Cross of Calvary is More than enough For all of Humanity.
We don't need any wooden chest where the 10 commandments were kept or whatever. All that is totally unnecessary.
The Death, Burial and Resurrection of JESUS Christ has taken care of all that.
All we need do is to take advantage of what has been done.

Moses, Mary, John, Paul, Elijah or whoever has Nothing to do with our Redemption.
It's all about JESUS and JESUS Alone

Died to save the already dead?

Such a waste of lives. The Spirit of God has left that building a long time ago. He was the life of the building so after He left, all that's left was the corpse.

Hopefully they died saved otherwise it would even be a much bigger waste.

Lord have mercy!

If God was truly in the ark he won't need protection. For goodness sake when the ark was brought into Jerusalem and uzzah touched it while it stumbled the Bible said he was immediately struck dead. Not to talk of rebels with guns. Just one breeze from his nostrils dem go disappear like Thanos.

So why defend it? Maybe they thought with their martyrdom dem go get free pass to heaven.Rip to them

In summary. God does not live in buildings. He lives inside of us. You wey you dey go church sleep there learn from this. Na mosquito go kill you. Just open your heart and accept Jesus. You're safe

Interesting

Patiently waiting for the conspiracy theorists to label this as a sign of the end times, and how the antichrist is already here.

Grabs popcorn to watch...

Simple logic, you can't defend God. You will die for defending God. How can a mortal defend his God from a man who God himself created
I once asked a pastor that will that guy who died from grabbing the ark make heaven (1 Chronicles 13:6-12)

Simple Logic, you can't defend God. Death is normal, but don't die defending God, it's illogical

The Ark is at best now a heritage. The spirit of God now resides in His children through Jesus Christ.

to me, this is a very foolish death.. If you are not assigned to the ark, you can't defend it..
Even in the Bible, someone tried to prevent the ark from falling down and he died.

WHEN THE OXEN STUMBLED, MAKING THE ARK TILT, UZZAH STEADIED THE ARK WITH HIS HAND , IN DIRECT VIOLATION OF THE DIVINE LAW , AND HE WAS IMMEDIATELY KILLED BY THE LORD FOR HIS ERROR.
