Back in the days...Rice was actually reserved for festive season, a very special food.

Pounded Yam and Amala were regulars.... Porridge Corn and Beans most present compared with rice....Above all, meat was scarce....Our Eja Kika, Oku Eko, Pontan are the major protein sources...

How come Cow meat is now very important to us

We need to go back to the bases!

We die here...Their Father. ..I repeat am..Their Father!!!
where is even the South West tomatoes called Ajase? I have been asking this question for so long. The last time I heard of it was in the 90s as a kid... what happened?

The Solution to the problem of food in southwest is going mechanised.

Let every rural ward have a tractor. I bet you, Lagos will be de congested.

Let every Rich Yoruba present their village a tractor

Let every member of the Senate, house of rep, minister and all juicy Yoruba public office holder present a tractor to their origin.

Let churches support their host communities with tractors.

If we have 2000 unit of tractors in southwest we will outshine the North.

Government of southwestern state shoud provide an enabling environment for the production of locally made tractors most especially the hand tractor.

Tractors range from twenty million naira to about five hundred thousand naira (Hand tractors)

Note that the destruction of farms and attacks on farmers by herders is a deliberate action to discourage the west from farming.

Playing catch up with the North is doable, but it won't be easy, the North developed their agric system over several decades while we moved away from agric, our cocoa, and rubber, we rendered ourselves to consumers and created perpetual dependency while we turn over tens of billions of Naira per day in food bill to the North. That's a lot of money.

Imagine the SW saving billions per day and keeping that money in the SW to improve our agric system and for development across the SW.

The North's main advantage right now is their vast irrigation system, something the SW don't know anything about, and until we iron out a broad irrigation system via our streams and rivers, figure out what to plant specifically in or states, where and how to raise animals for meat and dairy, storage, distribution, and export channels, we are just not going anywhere regardless of how many trucks we buy.

Just imagine, we have IITA in the SW right here under our nose and we are still dependent on others for food and basics, it's deplorable.

South West has proven they are more serious about restructuring than South East.
First, they created their own Amotekun while the S.E Govs are romancing the North
Secondly, they are revamping food production to stop depending on the North

Meanwhile South East Governors and Ohaneze are declaring ESN illegal even calling Army to fight them off

Yorubas are organized
we still have some traitors amist the Yorubas but I Know say God pass them they should sell their future for peanuts, most of them it's a pity they wanna use their present to destroy their future.Yoruba ronu our destiny is in our hands

But why are you engaging that daft Northern monkey who is not in concert with reality? You are granting him too much audience and by so doing he is beginning to believe that his stu.pidity is wisdom.

But on good note, at least he has unconsciously blurted out the overall agenda of the North, which is to Islamize everybody through jihadic bloodshed. Although we knew this beforehand, he just confirmed it.

While you have a lot of points, kindly note that 75% of the problems the North would have faced without irrigation and massive deployment of fertilizers to that region is already taken care of in the SW by mother nature herself. In other words, we have all the advantages on our side.

Traders in Kano lament as onion bag sold in the South for N35k crashes to N7k in the North (video)
LindaikejisblogMar 2, 2021Read original

Farmers and traders in Kano are lamenting as farm produce, which can't be sent to the South due to the ongoing strike by sellers of cows and food stuff, are now being sold in the North at ridiculously low prices.

In video shared by Daily Trust, the farmers and marketers at the Gun-Dutse onion market, Dawakin Kudu Local government Area of Kano State, are seen lamenting the effect of the ongoing strike by the sellers of cows and foodstuff.

Recall that trucks bringing food stuff to the Southern part of Nigeria were turned back at Kara Jebba, the last village between Niger state and Kwara state, to prevent them from bringing food to the South (read here ).

This strike is connected to an ultimatum given by the national leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) to the Federal Government which demanded compensation for the losses suffered by Northern traders in the recent mayhem at Shasha market in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The strike led to an increase in price of food commodities in the south but in the north, the prices are plummeting.

According to Daily Trust, farmers said before the protest, they usually transport a minimum of 20 trucks to the southern part of the country on a daily basis but the strike has affected them badly.

The largest bag of onion, which sold at N35,000 few weeks ago and as high as N70,000 during the onion scarcity last year, is now being sold for N7,000.

Below is a video taken at the market.

Stuffs like that can hardly ever happen again because the north is so fractured that, southerns have their own jurisdiction that is well protected and northerners have too. Take Kaduna for instance we have Kaduna north mostly dominated by Hausa Fulani Muslims and the Kaduna South mostly dominated by Christians both from Northern and Southern extraction. So in the event of any crisis people who get killed are people who are just so unfortunate to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

But I just pray for total calm, war isn't an option at all, in the end all sides will be very badly hit.

Thank you for this comment brother. People think war is beans. They just shout behind their mobile devices and rage for it but when it happens, they will hide themselves. The genocidal cleansing in Rwanda was as a result of hate being incensed and just waiting for the right time to explode. A single death of their president and accusations on the Tutsis led to more than a million dead within weeks. God help us.

The Sasa conflict compounded it. Northerners started a fire that ended up killing much of their people. The 7-day strike is to protest the killing of Northerners. My happiness in this whole thing is that retaliation was not done on Yorubas or Southerners in the North like it would have been before. If that was the case, we wont be saying this. Let's hope for peace.
When they retaliate, we will also retaliate too.

These DAWN commission people are useless.

For how long have Yoruba fish, snail and poultry farmers been languishing without any form on support.

Now they are calling emergency meeting and posting it on Twitter. Imagine the lack of seriousness. Poultry farmers associations have begged for grant and cheap loan but no road.

The is something they should have started as soon as Amotekun was created to exert economic pressure on the Fulani but these useless guys won't do that one.

Lol. You think Yorubas are a people, like some I won't mention, who always act emotionally and burn bridges to then regret their actions massively later?

You think Igboho came out alone without the backing of major Yoruba political players?

Yorubas are just teaching you emotional, rash and ignorant folks a lesson. We can work the cultural and traditional front, through someone like Sunday Igboho, without shooting ourselves in the foot politically as you people always do.

Nigeria still has to be led at the centre while she remains a nation so why should Yorubas preclude themselves from consideration with rash actions as others display all the time?

Or do you have a crystal ball to predict clearly when the "Zoo" will fall considering it has not fallen many decades after some have claimed it surely will?

You can't understand my point so ask for clarification from the smartest of your kinsmen here assuming he is even bright and open-minded enough to get it.

You have said it all, omo that irrigation is the key to their agricultural success in the north.
Their governments invest heavily on dams too, this is what helped the irrigation.
When we are done gnashing our teeth, we go learn one or two things from the northern agric set up.
In the meanwhile, lets pray for food to come in or else, ebi ni pa monamona ku.
Pardon my use of language, I'm a realist I don't like deceiving myself.
