It is not necessarily a snub. Nigeria is a complex country with complicated problems which other nations are always careful to describe and attend to.

It is not just speaking to us or our leaders that is problematic to them but just speaking about the country in general. Few want Nigeria to fail for obvious reasons and sometimes it takes great study and patience just to summarize its challenges.

What will he say to.our President that will not potentially worsen our situation. Wisdom is also patient. No big deal there.

Nigeria and Nigerians are still living on past glory. I get am before no be property. The rest of the world have moved on. Nothing futuristic is being discussed in Nigeria. They are still living in 18th century talking about bad roads,no electricity, flyovers, poorly-equipped hospitals, Herdsmen/farmers crisis and worst, state-sponsoring of terrorism.

A few celebrated individuals do not make a nation. But Nigerians are too selfish and myopic to notice that.

The irony in your comment is bringing up DR Congo, which is a MESS and was heavily criticized by the US State Dept’s human rights report, and who’s last presidential elections was described by the the UK’s Guardian (and also by Mo Ibrahim) as “a defeat of democracy”.

Meanwhile, you seem confused by the FACTUAL reality that Nigeria could be the BIGGEST economy in Africa (and by far btw), while simultaneously having a lot of poor people, as if that is somehow mutually exclusive - especially when Nigeria also have by far Africa’s BIGGEST population. It’s simple arithmetics. Even China, likely to become the world’s biggest economy in our lifetime, had almost 500 million people living in poverty in the early 2000s (that’s 300 million more poor folks than the entire population of Nigeria, albeit with 6 times the population of Nigeria). In fact, in the richest-ever nation in human history, the US, about 40 million people live in poverty (2017 US Census data). The biggest problem in Nigeria is the INEQUALITY in the distribution of wealth, and not the size of the economy itself.

Meanwhile, Nigeria banks (and Dangote) continue to spread out throughout Africa (how many Kenyan or Congolese banks are in Nigeria?), while Nigeria continues to increase it CULTURAL dominance of sub-Saharan Africa through its music, movies and fashion. Get out more dude! SMH

Obama was arrogant. He was angry at us throughout his presidency because of the gay bill thing. As if na by force for every country to embrace homosexuality. Why did he visit Saudi Arabia then? When they are the most anti gay nation in the world.

He also accused us of rampant corruption as if other African countries he visited were not corrupt. But you’re right, the least he could have done is show up and address those issues here directly like Bill Clinton did in 1999 when he spoke at our National Assembly and told us everything we needed to hear.
