President Buhari decorates new service chiefs.

Lucky Irabor, chief of defence staff, is now a full-star general. He was a Major-General.

Ibrahim Attahiru, chief of army staff, was decorated with the rank of lieutenant-general after his promotion from major general.

Awwal Gambo, chief of naval staff, is now a vice admiral, up from rear admiral.

Isiaka Amao, chief of air staff, was decorated with the rank of air marshal, a step above air vice marshal.

Promoting newly appointed service chiefs has become a tradition since Nigeria transited to democracy in 1999.

The President was assisted by the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo and the spouses of the CDS and Service Chiefs during the decoration ceremony which took place at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Not because he is from Delta state, it is not state that determines tribe, it is surname. No Igbo man has "Irabor" as surname. Irabor is an Edo man with an Edo surname and he comes from Agbor, that has border with Edo state, as well as an Edo minority

Gen Leo irabor has joined the list of generals who skipped ranks.only abacha reached full star general without skipping a rank.buhari attained major gen rank without skipping any rank and he refuses to promote himself obviously,he would have reached 4 star status without skipping Lt gen

Then that means you are not Igbo because all the names you mentioned are Igbo names. The only one that is debatable is Obaze

So if I say Im German, I automatically become German? Surname is the main indicator of someones tribe and Irabor is an Edo surname, not an Igbo surname.

Besides, he is from Agbor that has border with Edo state. You dont need to be told that his father or Grandfather was an Edo settler in Agbor
