To praise implies to tell or say wonderful things about people and most especially God. Praising God is the act of declaration or telling of His great and wonderful doings and the excellences of His attributes. Psalm 145: 3-7 best defined this, “Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts, I will speak of the glorious honor of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.”

God is great and He is greatly to be praised! The whole Bible abounds with exhortations to praise God (1 Chronicles 16:23; Psalm 95:1; 96: 1-2). Of great importance also is the fact that it is a command given by God to all nations and kindred irrespective of race, color, statures, sex, age, and religion (Psalm; 67:3-5; 117:1; 148: 11-13; Isaiah 42: 10-12; Romans; 15:11). Praising God is not only limited to humans but something to be done by all living things He created, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” (Psalm 150:6). The inanimate nature also is not left out, (Psalm 148:8-9; Psalm 98:7-8; Isaiah 44:23; 55:12).

The importance of praising God by those who have embraced His gracious salvation through faith in His son Jesus Christ cannot be overemphasized for we are told in Isaiah 43:21, that we were created for His praise. This implies that praising God is our destiny and duty. Apart from this, it is something God is highly delighted in. He dwells in the praises of His children.

Therefore, it is mandatory for us Christians to be praiseful unto God because “He is our Praise” having predestinated, created, and redeemed us for His praise (Deuteronomy 10:21; Isaiah 42:2; Ephesians 1: 4-6,12; 1 Peter 2:9). God dwells in the praises of His redeemed (Psalm 22:3, Isaiah 60:18).

God is worthy of our praises continually and all day long because He is a great God who has done great and marvelous things past finding out (Psalm 71:6; 35:28; 107). His glory is revealed everywhere for us to see so we must declare His glory everywhere, “The heavens declare the glory of God: and the firmament showeth his handiwork. Day to day utterest speech, and night to night showeth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.” (Psalm 19:1-2).

Great and marvelous things beyond human comprehension happen when we praise God. “OH THAT MEN WOULD PRAISE THE LORD FOR HIS GOODNESS, AND FOR HIS WONDERFUL WORKS TO THE CHILDREN OF MEN! Psalm 107:8.
Have you praised God today? Why not just say something beautiful to Him right now?

GOD LOVES YOU AND SO DO I.
