Avert Climate Change Disasters Through Decarbonisation by EdoBoy90(m): 4:46am On Mar 14, 2021 |
Decarbonisation is the reduction of carbon emissions using renewable energy resources such as wind turbine, solar energy, biomass etc. This will significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels. Across the globe, countries are experiencing climate change Nigeria inclusive. This has negative impacts on the environment and human health. Let us protect the environment and our health by taking climate action. Due to the heat wave in Nigeria currently caused by climate change, this requires urgent solutions to reduce carbon emissions and to avert future disasters like floods, winter storms, food shortage, crops' failure in the growing season, droughts and other diseases. 1. Decarbonising the energy and power sectors, and industrial processes using alternative energy sources such as wind turbine, solar energy etc. 2. Planting of trees in rural and urban areas to absorb CO2 from the atmosphere. 3. Mitigation strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions should be implemented. 4. There should be public awareness campaign on climate change and its negative impacts. 5. Due to lesser rains, irrigation system should be used by farmers. Governments across board should support farmers to prevent hunger. Join the climate revolution now! |
