Each state in United States has supreme court and only federal matter are being entertained by the supreme court. But here in Nigeria, every criminal case can be dragged to supreme court, civil lawsuits of 1998 are still being heard at the supreme court. Our constitution and institutions need to be revamped.

Not so fast. Each state in US has its own supreme courts that is the final arbiter on state issues while the Federal Supreme court rule supreme over all federal issues. Each states supreme court has judges varying from 5 to 9. In all there are 353 supreme court justices in USA. Yeah right you have 9 at the Federal Supreme court and 344 at the states supreme court https://ballotpedia.org/State_supreme_courts. By the way US population is not twice of Nigeria population it is just 1.6 times that of Nigeria. So 21 Justices at the Nigeria Supreme court is still a far cry to what is obtainable in the US

if you trim to five, every ethnic group will be shouting they are not represented. the increase number of 21 was a ploy used by the north to undermine the south incase the courts will decide any future issue in Nigeria.
