You are yet to understand this
If those that constructed Suez Canal were thinking like you
There will be no Suez Canal
Ok, I understand your statement. It's hard to believe this canal was constructed 150 years ago

suez canal and panama canal link two different oceans together, this means that the height or the volume of water from the head to the end point must be the same so that it will create a condition like a mini pond or ocean. this means that the volume of water is not affected by seasonal or climatic changes, unlike a river, a river flow and empty it content from higher to lower lands, the volume of water reduces as you move toward upstream and more sediments are deposited more on the downstream. comparing sueze canal and any river in nigeria does not make sense but rather dredging of river chanel will only accommodate light and flat bottom ships and boat during raining season

The east should no longer wait for the federal government

There must be disintegration of shithole called Nigeria for intense self development to flourish. There are technological innovation which can be brought to the country however Nigeria is not deserving. I dream and wish Nigeria can disintegrate for new alignment to form.

1. The Suez canal was not the initiative of the Egyptians, especially as Egypt was run as a semi independent polity of the Ottoman empire then.

2. The Canal was the initiative of Ferdinand deLesseps, a French businessman who got French investment to build the canal

3. The real backers of the canal were the World Powers who wanted an alternative route to the Indian ocean apart from the long and extensive route around the Cape of Good hope.

4. When the canal was inagurated in 1869 it was placed under international rather tha Egyptian control. The canal did not come under Egyptian control till Nasser nationalised it in 1956

5. To sum up. The canal was not the initiative of the Egyptians ( infact from 1861-5 construction stopped because of government interference). It was a French led international operation.

6. Nigeria does not lie at a junction between two major oceans like Egypt. Whu should we then build a canal?

7. A better question for op should be why Escarvos is not a major port? Why ontisha too is not acting as a port and why there is no rail link from either ports. We don't need a Suez type canal.

Op should run for office. So that op can achieve his goals

Well it's not about how wide the canal is but how deep. And the most important thing is that the canal links Europe with the East and also Africa. So it's like a short cut that connects this three continents. Everything shouldn't be about politics.

Even if the river in your village is wider or deeper than this canal, that's not the point. The point is, how important is the river in your village?

Strategic positioning.

You leave your useless leaders and their misgovernance in the east and come to the west to complain about bad government, have you no shame . You can chose to believe whatever about YORUBAS that won't change a thing , remove the specks in your own eyes first....you christian ibo, greedy ,drug peddler , prostitute, baby factory etc

Bro, not only did I notice it but I am amazed by the blind and stupid hatred some parts of the country have towards igbos to the extent that if an igbokwe is qualified for a position and there is no other candidate they would rather have an unqualified person in acting capacity.

But on the other hand it seems God is equally very much fighting this people who hate igbos. Almost all their States are now piqued with insecurity by their own folks to the extent that pupils don't go to school and the military and police are now victims.

Child of hate this has not made your brothers in those states leave now or have we started seeing exodus of Ibos from the north because of insecurity?

God fight for you ki you there

Best post in this thread.

I don't think they think before posting, they are just too consumed with hate to think and make sense.

I wonder if the North is also responsible for the endless communal killings, kidnappings, cultism and other insecurity issues all over the SE.

This is the problem with many from that part of Nigeria, you have the same insecurity issues and atrocities right there in your own communities, but you still want people to believe that such doesn't exist in your backyard and it's only synonymous in other places.

You people can be so delusional sha.

how many igbos are still in Borno and zamfara , igbos are all over the world and are still spreading like the universe , today igbos are now more diverse than the french and the British who in the 18th century were all over the world looking for opportunities and investments and ended up discovering and colonizing Africa, this 21st century , it is the turn of the igbos, Chinese , Indians who are spreading their tentacles to every nook and cranny of the world through trade , investments and business. igbos are in the north like the chinese and indians , when the climate is not favorable the move to better environments.

No race conquered the world without extensively travelling the world , it is the time and turn of the igbos
