Cry For Help From Aggrieved, Oppressed Residents/Victims Of BEDC's Wickedness. by CREIMEXAD: 12:18am On Apr 02, 2021
ANYBODY THAT SEES THIS MESSAGE, PLEASE HELP THE AGGRIEVED, OPPRESSED RESIDENTS/VICTIMS OF THE WICKEDNESS OF STAFF OF BENIN ELECTRICITY DISTRIBUTION COMPANY (BEDC') TO FORWARD IT/PASS IT TO THE RELEVANT AUTHORITIES.

This is to report an act of gross wickedness, injustice, impunity and irresponsibility of staff of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Ugbiyoko office and Erediauwa district Office, both at Ekenwan Road area, Benin City, Edo State.

Since FRIDAY MARCH 5TH THIS YEAR, there's been NO LIGHT in an area in Evbuotubu (Odion street, Ogiemudia street and many others in the environs) in Evbuotubu community, Benin City.

What happened:
A group of staff of BEDC, Ugbiyoko office (including one certain Mrs Esther Eze), on routine disconnection exercise, had a messy confrontation/altercation with a customer. The said customer fought with the BEDC staff as they were trying to disconnect his light because of debt (debt is from estimated bill that the man met in the store which has been in dispute).
As a result of that, the management of BEDC Ugbiyoko office and Erediauwa district, went and disconnected the transformer that's on Odion street, Evbuotubu, cutting light supply to an entire area covering many streets as mentioned earlier and the people there have been in darkness since that day.

While it is wrong and irresponsible of the man to fight with BEDC staff, it is ridiculous that a customer somewhere that other customers have no business with, committed an offence/assault and instead of arresting whoever fought with them, the BEDC staff are now punishing numerous other customers - including those who are not even owing light debts and others who make payment every month. This is not the first time that that Mrs eze and the manager in Erediauwa district office are doing this same act - this is the 3rd time in the last 2 years.

The person that fought with BEDC staff is someone who is known to be a violent miscreant and he does not reside in the area at all - he is a barber that rented a roadside shop along Evbuotubu market road (and that vicinity uses the transformer on Odion street there) and now as a result of his act, the residents over a wide area (including many streets far away from the man's shop) are being punished by BEDC offices in Ugbiyoko and Erediauwa!

On Saturday the 20th of March, the said offender was eventually arrested by State vigilante, and then released almost a week later, yet till now, the transformer is still disconnected and the whole vicinity still in darkness.

And then another twist entered - the so called Mrs Eze and co (BEDC staff) said their staff that the customer fought with, that they spent 250k to treat him in hospital (you can imagine!!), that all the people connected to that transformer should raise the money for them, that until that is done, they will not switch on the transformer. Can you imagine? Is this not satanic and criminal extortion?!! Where on earth do people pay fines and pay for damages done by another person?

Some of the people in the area have since that time been contacting BEDC headquarters as well as Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) (both their headquarters and Benin office) but till now these organisations have kept quiet to it and the people in that area are still in darkness - including some that are not owing light bill! Pprivate citizens in their private homes that did not commit any offence and regularly pay their bills, how can they be punished unjustly and put in darkness for 1 month now? That is extreme wickedness and gross injustice!

THE RESIDENTS OF THAT AREA EMPHATICALLY DEMAND AN IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION AND STOPPAGE OF THIS EVIL ACT, WICKEDNESS AND INJUSTICE!!!

If the light is NOT restored immediately and they don't put a stop to this wicked and callous habit (as it has now become a regular occurrence/habit), whatever chaos and civil unrest that arises from it someday, the authorities will have themselves to blame and it will be on record that it was reported it to the necessary authorities.

Please kindly keep forwarding this message it, let it get to relevant authorities for their urgent and immediate intervention for those people in that area.
Thank you

Moderators please please please, kindly move this to front page, let the matter spread till it gets to the relevant authorities, lets help these residents get justice.
