Civic Center, Ado-ekiti. Under construction by Gov Fayemi.

When completed, it’ll have a shopping mall, cinema, museum and gallery. EKSG hopes it’ll boost tourism in the state.

Our state governments need to come together and work with Odua group so we can have sufficient electricity as a region for commercial, industrial and residential use. There is no law that go against states generating their own electricity which I believe can be achievable with several scientific and technoloical innovations most especially for residential use.

Great post. Keep in mind though that Odua group was set up to manage the assets of the defunct western region, seek areas
of growth to invest in and provide dividends to shareholders (the constituent SW states).

It can provide community assistance via social responsibility (I believe it provides scholarships amongst others).

Electricity sufficiency is way beyond odua’s mandate. The funding, technical know how of power generation, transmission and distribution is of great magnitude. It is way beyond odua group’s core competency and mandate.

They should acquire all the disco companies in SW and they should look into solar electricity way of generating electricity for residential use only and we can have enough for our industries. And if the leadership of the company can seek the approval of the constituents not to receive dividends for 10years so they can invest and reinvest in the society with sensible tax holidays for the investment to grow and yield.

Air Peace launches Ibadan-Abuja Flight

https://thenationonlineng.net/air-peace-launches-ibadan-operations

Air Peace yesterday - 17/08/2021- launched scheduled flights into Ibadan Airport, in Oyo State.

The airline was received by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji at the airport.

The inaugural flight, operated with the airline’s brand new Embraer 195-E2 aircraft, touched down about 11 am and was greeted with a water cannon by Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Fire Service unit.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde said the coming of the airline to the state was a big relief to the city travellers as the airline has immediately “crashed the airfare from Ibadan to Abuja to affordable level”.

Makinde said the state would make the route economically viable for the airline.

He said: “The coming of Air Peace will strengthen and enhance the economy of the state. We have a dry Port here that will facilitate the clearing of goods in record time. This will take the stress off importers in the state and neighbouring states and save them the stress of going to Lagos port to clear goods.”

Makinde to upgrade Ibadan Airport to International Standard

https://t.guardian.ng/news/makinde-promises-to-upgrade-ibadan-airport-to-international-standard/

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, yesterday, reiterated his determination to upgrade dilapidated facilities at the Ibadan Airport to assume international standards.

Makinde stated this during the inaugural flight of Air Peace Airline at the Alakia Ibadan Airport, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The governor also commissioned the Airport Protocol Lounge to be rehabilitated by the state government.

Makinde said the facility would enable airline operators to use Ibadan as their operational base and also ensure that the airport serves as an immediate alternative to the Lagos Airport in case of weather or other challenges.

He expressed optimism that the commencement of air flight operations by Air Peace Airline at Ibadan would further boost the economy of the state.

BESIDES, Makinde, yesterday, sought the consideration and approval of the House of Assembly for a supplementary budget of N50 billion.

The request was contained in a letter sent to the House by the governor and read at plenary by the Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin

The governor said that the N50 billion supplementary budget was to cater to three major projects not captured in the approved 2021 budget.

MEANWHILE, the Assembly has approved additional N6 billion credit facilities for the administration to bridge the infrastructure deficit across the state.

The Speaker said the House would continue to monitor the spending and expenses of the Executive Council, and ensure the loans being approved would be judiciously used in developing and completing ongoing infrastructural projects.

We really need restructuring and power devolution to be able to develop at a much faster speed. The current system is really holding us down. This is why some are agitating for Yoruba nation when they feel leaders from other ethnicities will never support restructuring due to envy or jealousy for the perceived and obvious greatness of the Yoruba people. They will rather have us stuck in stagnancy with them than leave them behind.

FG targets N2bn annually from Ogun farm estate

https://punchng.com/fg-targets-n2bn-annually-from-ogun-farm-estate/

The Federal Government has commenced the construction of its integrated farm estate in Ogun State with a target of engaging 1500 workers and generate a revenue of N2bn annually after its first year.

It said on Tuesday that the facility would be the biggest farm estate of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority in fish, goat and snail production.

It stated in a statement issued in Abuja by NALDA’s Executive Secretary, Paul Ikonne, that the farm estate was being constructed on 100 hectares of land in the state’s Special Agro Industrial Zone located in Makun-Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

The statement read in part, “The farm estate will boast of garri processing and packaging plants, snail farming, goat rearing and fish farming.”

Ikonne said land clearing had been done and was being mapped out for crop farming, cassava processing, fish processing, snail processing, warehouses, fish pond, snail farm, poultry, goat and sheep pen, office area and pasture area for grazing.

He said, “The reason why we want to make Ogun farm one of the biggest in production is its proximity to Lagos. We know that there is market in Lagos.

“Our target for the farm in Ogun is to generate about N2bn annually after the first year of the startup. Ogun is one of our key farm estate because of its proximity to the sea ports for export purposes.”

He said the farm estate would expose the host community to development and boost their living standard.

Gov Abiodun orders contractor back to abandoned Mowe/Ofada road

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/08/gov-abiodun-orders-contractor-back-to-abandoned-mowe-ofada-road/

The Ogun State government has ordered the contractor handling the Mowe-Ofada road reconstruction in Obafemi-Owode Local Government back to site.

Contract for the reconstruction of the eight kilometers road was awarded by the immediate past administration of Governor Ibikunle Amosun in 2013.

However, the road was abandoned by the contractor, CSCC in 2018, following the failure of the government to defray a sum of N500 million it owed the firm.

The dual carriageway road is now in a dilapidated state with one side impassable.

The state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr Ade Akinsanya who disclosed this in a chat with newsmen, said Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved that the contractor should return to site to complete the reconstruction of the road.

The project, he said, stretched from Ofada Roundabout to Mowe junction, linking the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Akinsanya, who also spoke on the rehabilitation of internal roads across major cities and towns, said that the Ogun State Public Works Agency (OGPWA), headed by Arc. Gbenga Akintola, has been mandated to fix 15 roads on a monthly basis, across the state.

He said that in the month of August, the agency is poised to rehabilitate 13 roads, with Ogun East taking the lion share of five roads, while Ogun Central and Ogun West have four each.

Rivers governor has just signed the VAT collection bill into law. This would favor the states greatly

Some of Our leaders are being very cautious not to plunge us into needless war. This is the reason most are opting for restructuring instead of separation. Yoruba does not belong in Nigeria. The mode of conduction in Nigeria is too regressive for our vision. Lots of blue prints developmental programs and policies are in cache waiting for unhindering system of government like true federalism to be unleashed.

Yoruba is to Africa what English is to Europe in my opinion.

Odu’a plans mechanised agric in Ogun, Ekiti, Osun, Ondo

https://punchng.com/odua-plans-mechanised-agric-in-ogun-ekiti-osun-ondo/

The Group Managing Director, Odu’a Investment Company Limited, Adewole Raji, disclosed on Tuesday that the company has begun to support the economy of the six shareholder states of the South-West through investment into their areas of comparative advantages.

While property development was projected to be viable in Lagos and Ibadan (Oyo State), the Chief Executive Officer of Odu’a stated that commercial and mechanised agriculture would be the best idea in the other four states of Ogun, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti.

Addressing journalists at the media tour and open visit of the Wrestlink Iconic Villa at Alakia area of Ibadan on Monday, Raji said the idea of the luxury estate being constructed in Ibadan in collaborative efforts of Odu’a, Chapter 4 Estate Company and Westlink Iconic Estates Limited, was borne out of the high prospect that Ibadan, headquarters of South-West, offers.

He said, “We have a responsibility to partake in the lifting of the economy of each of the shareholder states. But we should not be taking emotional decisions but business decisions.

Whereas you see Oyo and Lagos looking attractive in terms of investment into property, in other Odua states, we are looking at agriculture and processing because they have arable land and their climate is good.”

He said there was no competition between property development and farmlands in the South-West.
