Lagos To Divert Traffic In Ikeja Due To Red Line Rail Project by naptu2: 6:21am On Apr 09, 2021
The Lagos State Govt @followlasg

The Lagos State Government is set to divert the traffic on Adegbola Street, Ikeja for 15 months, commencing from Sunday 11th April, 2021, in readiness for the construction of Ikeja Overpass, Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red Line Project.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, @dr_oladeinde, said the diversion is in continuation of the construction of an Overpass Rail Line Bridge and necessary to ensure the safety of road users and contractors against accident during the construction period.

@dr_oladeinde disclosed that motorists from Computer Village and Simbiat Abiola Way heading towards Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway will be diverted to Akinremi Street to link Oshifila Street and make their way through the Rail Level Crossing to their desired destinations.

The Transport Commissioner further stated that motorists from Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway will equally be diverted to the Ikeja Rail Level Crossing to connect Balogun Street and connect Oduyemi Street to link Obafemi Awolowo Way to other locations.

Oladeinde also added that Traffic Advisory Boards will be placed at Ikeja Under-Bridge area, Simbiat Abiola Way and Adebola/Balogun junctions to serve as a guide, as well as a reminder for motorists that ply the corridors frequently.

He appealed to residents and motorists in the area to cooperate with the traffic management personnel charged with the task of ensuring free vehicular movement in the area, by complying with traffic regulations and interventions towards ensuring speedy completion of the project.

Let the developmental project continue. Lagos needs more planned housing like the 1004 estates, pull down a whole neighbourhood and erect high rise, bargaining with the landlords and give them money or commensurate blocks of flat within the building. Our range of lithium powerbank for laptop can guarantee you between ten to twenty four hours of work on your laptop. Can charge phone, light, fan etc.

Nice one but I hope that the Traffic Advisory Boards that will be placed at Ikeja Under-Bridge area, Simbiat Abiola Way and Adebola/Balogun junctions to serve as a guide will not turn around to extort money from motorists

This is a good development if they can finish it on time. However, the blue line that was started during the time of Fashola has not been completed.

Lagosians brace up cos it will be more than 15 months. 24 months maybe. The case of 3rd mainland bridge rehabilitation comes to mind.

This is the way to go. Managing traffic movement in a 20million people city can never be successful with vehicular mode of transportation. What is needed is a mass transport system.
Kudos to LASG. I hope the Blue line will not be abandoned.

I want to know whether it is overhead flyover they wants to construct cos it is long overdue.
The activities of those Street urchins extorting money from motorists at that particular spot in the name of lending assistance is unbearable

Lagos is far from development when compared with other megacities like Tokyo, Johannesburg, Shanghai and New York.
I've told you times and again. Stop comparing Lagos with other states. London does not compare herself with Birmingham. Tokyo does not compare herself with Ossawa. Those cities are the economic hubs of their respective countries. Lagos should be measuring dicks with her classmates not forming local champion with other sister state who's population isn't even up to 7million. Why Lagos is popular is because of her massive population nothing more. It's infrastructure is clearly below par when compared with other cities around the world that share the population metrics with her. In short, Lagos is a huge shithole
