So many kids are home waiting for admission.

Growing up, most of the technical colleges used to be filled up. On my way home after school, you find the technical students in their hundreds leaving school, while some are going for their afternoon lectures.

As at the time i left Nigeria years ago, story has changed. Technical colleges are not what it used to be.

With the law of demand and supply of labour, the already devalue first degree certificates in labour market will move to lost value. In pre 80s, with Ordinary Level certificate (WAEC) you are sure of good sustainability job. Today, you cannot even use it to look for job.

Imagine a Marine Engineer that has never been on board a ship or inside a ship's engine room.

They be been converted to degree awarding universities, all you need to do is sort lecturers and you get 2.1, sort or Bleep.

Government policy lead to that. Requirements to start university in Nigeria is nothing to write about. If government is establishing more secondary and technical schools with good standards, we would not be having mushroom universities everywhere.
