The structure of a giant new statue of Jesus Christ has been completed in southern Brazil - with the final design set to rise even higher than the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue.

A head and outstretched arms were added to the statue this week, which has been under construction since 2019 in the city of Encantado, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

It will stand even taller than the already world-renowned Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, which was built 90 years ago and will undergo a restoration later this year.

Completion of the monument is scheduled for late this year, according to the Association of the Friends of Christ, which is coordinating the work.

"It is a day for celebration, for devotion," said Gilson Conzatti, a local councillor and son of Adroaldo Conzatti, the politician who conceived the idea.

The elder Conzatti, who was the city's mayor, died in March from complications of Covid.

The statue, to be named Christ the Protector, will stand 43 meters (140 feet) tall, including its pedestal, making it one of the world's tallest statues of Christ with outstretched arms.

It will measure 36 meters from hand to hand, and will have an interior elevator and an observation deck near the top.

Christ the Redeemer, by comparison, measures 38 meters high, pedestal included, and spans 28 meters hand to hand.

Encantado, a city of 22,000, lies 145 kilometers (90 miles) northwest of the state capital Porto Alegre.

The project is intended both to inspire faith and encourage tourism to the area, its promoters say.'

A father-son team of sculptors, Genesio and Markus Moura, are overseeing the work.

The project's budget of 2 million reals (£256,000) is being entirely financed through donations, according to the volunteer-based Association of the Friends of Christ.

The group is continuing to raise funds. Its website even features the raffle of a car.

The LORD JESUS, The Coming KING of kings is beyond this statue or that statue or anything made by hand.
GOD is a Spirit! They that worship , do it in Spirit and in truth.
Such Amout would have been used to Sponsor Missionaries to unreach places to Propagate the Gospel of JESUS.

I guess the "statue Jesus" will look more real to them than the biblical Jesus (which they only believe by faith). At least they can see and touch this one.

Raising up statues for Jesus is a very dicey matter. It has its advantages and disadvantages.

But One that had no disadvantage is having Him dwelling in your heart.

CHRIST JESUS expect us to living a righteous life in this present pervese generation moreso, i am not in support of what they are doing but it will be totally destroy during the end of age where the antichrist will take over and also when GOD will melt the earth with a fervent heat. The word of GOD have already said that thou shall not bow to any graven image . Just believe he exist then that shows that you have faith in him ( heb 11vs1). He even told us that blessed is he that believeth and does not sees him

The difference is in who they call father.
Christians believe in God their father. Demons believe in their father the devil.

Faith simply means strong conviction is someone or something.
Demons certainly have faith in God because supposedly they should have encountered the power of his supremacy.
After all their father the devil is supposed to be subject to God.

No this is not the point I was getting at. Clementoons asserted that merely believing that God exists, means that the person has faith in God which is not Biblical. That’s exactly the reason why I particularly quoted James 2:19 because if you consider the context of the Scriptures surrounding it, you’ll see that James’ reasoning tends towards what I was actually saying that belief in the existence of God is not enough but has to be channeled properly towards the right kind of faith and demonstrated through works/action. James 2:24-26

Do not get me wrong. The demons also believe GOD exist reason because they know who he is and what he can do, they are meant to surrender to him but they refuse because their father ( satan) refuse to submit to GOD .they are fallen angels they are doom already. If you truly believe GOD exist then you will learn that from creation because in the beginning was the word and the word was with GOD. Ever before then GOD had from there, been alive and till today all till eternity he is still alive and existing no one can change that fact. Satan believe in GOD and know who he is that is why he form his own evil-trinity, just to divert people attention to his side. you don't need to celebrate all that , what you are meant to celebrate is your salvation, which means you regain freedom from sins( if you are still under sins, you are still a slave to satan , you are under bondage and if you refuse to repent, you on the way to eternal destruction) but jesus has died for us all to grant unto us total freedom from sins. Thank you GOD for letting your son to die for the world, Thank you JESUS for being my saviour, Thank you HOLY SPIRIT for comforting me in times of adversity

That was how I read about some people rushing everyday to drink water dripping from the feet of a certain statue in a catholic church compound. A new clergy man posted there had to drive them angrily explaining that the water is from the main toilet upstairs. It has been a plumbing problem all this while.

Except if you look at the bible as a historically accurate document, Jesus couldn't be white, pale, or straight haired. Jesus depicted as an Ethiopian or Moroccan would be more accurate.

They have that faith reason being they all knows/believes that He is a supernatural being that could destroy them because of anything for his own people and could give power to his own people to subdue them at any point in time.
