I beg to differ and this is the reason why. You guys give tinubu too much credit and you people refuse to put the blame where it belongs. Yes Tinubu did everything to clinch the apc presidential ticket for Buhari, but then tinubu was in the opposition party at the time. Has Tinubu ever been a president or had he ever successfully produced a president, well the answer was no. It was Obasanjo who was both a civilian and miliary head of state that did the inner workings to make Buhari president. He wanted to show Jonathan, that i made you and i can also remove you. Saraki a serving senator and a former chairman of the governors forum decamped with his serving governor, Amaechi also decamped, Oyinlola obj's number 1 loyalist also decamped. Many pdp stalwarts decamped and the pdp chairman and security adviser stayed in the party to kill it from within. Sambo Dasuki who was Jonathans national security adviser also donated money to Buhari's campaign while he was still in Jonathan's government. Obasanjo tore his pdp membership card on national tv to signal to everyone that he had withdrew his support for Jonathan.
Look the northerners have only one person they reckon with in the south and it is obasanjo, because they see him as their oga, brother and friend. Two times Obasanjo has ruled and both times he handed over to the NW. Obasanjo used his loyalist within the party to sabotage Jonathan from within. Jonathan's major crime was not removing his deputy Namadi Sambo for a more core north candidate in the north like the former governor of jigawa Sule Lamido who is an obasanjo loyalist. Although Namadi Sambo is a former governor of kaduna his father is actually from auchi, edo state. So some northern elites felt Jonathan is a south south christian, while Namadi Sambo is a south south muslim.

I agree with you that Obasanjo did the inner workings to make buhari president. But some credits too should be given to Tinubu for the finances, propaganda and publicity he deployed
Likewise saraki, amaechi, fashola and the rest of them.

Namadi Sambo's father moved from auchi, edo state to kaduna while his mother is a northern muslim. I know you are aware that people from auchi are predominantly muslims.

What happened was that after Yaradua died, Jonathan who was the vp was sworn in as the president of the federal republic of Nigeria. The vp slot was then zoned back to the north west and it had to be a serving governor in the region. When Yaradua and Jonathan contested for the president and vp post they were both serving governors in Katsina and Bayelsa. At that time Jonathan was still very much loyal to Obasanjo, because it was obj who fought for Jonathan to get to that position. When it was time to pick the vp, Obasanjo made sure Sambo was chosen because he knew the northerners would not rally around him, because they see him as an outsider and not a true northern muslim. Obasanjo knew what he went through with Atiku when he was president and that even as an ex head of state and a retired general he was pushed to the limit because of the support he got from the north. Obasanjo wanted to use Jonathan as a third term without the interference of a strong vice president.

Let me explain something to you, Kaduna was just like Lagos, it was the place where all the rich and influential people in the north lived before Abuja took over. So just like Lagos you didn't really need to be an indigene to be governor or hold political office. If you were born there or you have lived their for awhile, then with the right people around you, it can be done.

Have you not wondered that even though people felt Jonathan was weak, the north never rallied around Sambo to fight him for the presidency.Their was even a rumour that during the election that Jonathan did after completing Yaradua's tenure, he was told to sign an under taken that he would not hand over to Sambo as a condition for the north to support his candidacy.

A future example while Tinubu is smarter than Obj is the 2022 presidential election.
