In a statement by the director of the group, Ishaq Akintola, MURIC asked if the agitators have any provision for civil sharia which “Yoruba Muslims have been demanding for ages.”

Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has asked those agitating for the Oduduwa Republic to state what they have in stock for Muslim children and women in the South-West and what their plan is for hijab.
In a statement by the director of the group, Ishaq Akintola, MURIC asked if the agitators have any provision for civil sharia which “Yoruba Muslims have been demanding for ages.”
The Islamic group said it was drawing the attention of the agitators of the Oduduwa Republic to the plight of Muslims in Yorubaland.

It stated that leaders of the groups agitating for breakaway must admit that there is a strain in Christian/Muslim relationship in the South-West and must proffer solutions to address it.

He said, “We draw the attention of the ideologues of Oduduwa Republic to the plight of Muslims in Yorubaland. Leaders of the groups agitating for Yoruba breakaway must admit that there is a strain in Christian/Muslim relationship in the South-West and proffer solutions instead of blackmailing and accusing it of fomenting trouble in the region. It is the height of hypocrisy and it will not help the cause of the Yoruba nation.

“We, therefore, ask the Yoruba agitators, what do you have in stock for Muslim children and women? What is your plan for hijab? Is it as dictated by CAN (Christian Association of Nigeria)? Is there any provision for civil shariah which Yoruba Muslims have been demanding for ages? The response of the agitators to these questions will go a long way in determining their readiness to tolerate Muslims or the plot to continue oppressing us.”

Ordinarily a character like this one man organization won't be popular or given any attention in a Yoruba Nation. The Nigerian factor and the religious fissure being perpetrated by both the North and the Igbos is what is giving this man unnecessary oxygen. The Yorubas are just surrounded by neighbours who are struggling very hard to understand their liberal and progressive nature. I mean how can a tribe be composed of both Christians and Muslims, represented almost equally in each family and they all get along so well. They find it very strange. Truth is, the Yorubas are unique, peculiar and very blessed, even unicorns consider us a fabled specie.

It might help to find out what northern muslims think of yoruba muslims, and also to find out what will happen if pushing goes to shoving, where the loyalty of the yoruba muslim will ho, to his family or fellow muslim members from the north, if one is not in denial, one will agree that if the yoruba muslim's loyalty goes to his family, he is not a good muslim and if goes to his fellow muslim members, you know what that means, that you are living with a snake, now like you say, the akintola man is part of the problem.
I am a proud Christian, I have no problem with any muslim, I don't see any difference between a muslim and a professed Christian who is is living a life of sin, if they die in that state they are going to the same place, that you have decided to bring igbos to this only shows the type of person you are, what you should sort out first is whether what the igbos or any group say about the yoruba muslims is true or false,

From the get go, that you started contemplating where the loyalty of a "Yoruba Muslim" would be, exposed the ribald premise and misconception the lots of you have about Yorubas and religion, even the label "Yoruba Muslim" sounds very strange and unorthodox to us.
The reality of Yorubas from observations and personal experiences are a people who are largely casual and liberal about religion, they are not fanatics or fundamentalists. How many "Yoruba Muslims" both online and offline share the same radical views as this lunatic, we call him a one man organization for a reason.
I brought the Igbos into this because they are major contributors in popularizing and trying to divide Yorubas along religious lines.
