The government has played its hands. It will now have to bear the consequences.

The sense here is clear, it has placed the interests of individuals above the nation and totally ignored the sensibilities of a swathe of its citizens further weakening its ability to govern properly and fuelling the already tense insecurity situation to which the police admitted today it is essentially bankrupt.

Wise governance will not be hasty in personalising this incident. They will rather act independent and let the Legislature, the referees in this case take the heat. Afterall it is our Representatives that slipped up in vetting this person. Then they will have satisfied both sides of the equation.
