The national grid is part of the problem, not the whole problem

The problem is, that power has been sold at a loss since the privatisation exercise of 2013. It costs N53 to make one unit of power...meanwhile that unit was being sold at N30 or less until last year.

With such loss making...there has been no money to make things better.

Decentralising the grid would only make sense if everyone in the new areas paid bills set by the power companies above the cost of production...otherwise it would just be putting old wine in very old bottles.
