This is half truth. No matter your degree in radiography, whether Masters or Doctorate, legally any imaging report must have a supervising doctors signature (a radiologist) before it is relied upon for diagnosis. What the people you mentioned do is to assist the radiologist in certain areas but they must be supervised.

What is the point of the information you provided with regards to our discussion? It looks like I have nothing to learn from you.
Let me give you a hint, anytime you see the suffix -gist attached to the name of a medical specialty just assume that the individual is doctor.

pwettyme:In sane clime, you'd have been arrested before completing the statement that you have in-depth knowledge of prescriptions of drugs for children and adults? For real? you're not a trained Medical doctor or atleast a pharmacists! and you're prescribing drugs. I pity your clients but hope is OTC drugs to begin because you may been causing harm to people in guise of help..Do you know most of these drugs have terrible complications? Do you know Chloramphenicol can destroy your bone marrow totally if not used under the tutelage of a trained doctor. Now, I've schooled you....Because Nigeria is a lawless country , pls don't prescribe outside over the OTC drugs.
Re: Radiography Vs Pharmacy. Which Is More Lucrative by pwettyme(f): 6:49pm On Apr 27
You lack total understanding.
Yes I have the knowledge of prescription for both adult and children be kind to point out where I stated that I prescribe drugs to people.... (Make sure you go bring it up or you and your generation will be doomed for life trust me).
Simply shows you failed to read the part where i advised the OP to make sure he gets registered and certified instead you are looking for mentions to attack.
Funny how I have witnessed mistakes from qualified doctors who write some of this prescriptions but is been corrected by the pharmacist or someone who atleast have some kind of experience.
You need to visit the health sector sometimes before dishing out rubbish.
Just as the lab scientists do the figuring out.... everybody is important including the business people in Idumota market and the investors going to India and Malaysia to import .
Incase you don't know these pharmacist go to the market to go pick it up before arranging it on their shelves....it didn't fly to get there... The people who do this importations are the reason we have them in the pharmacies in the first place.... You should be saying thank you for this free lectures... Instead of acting like a confused being.

It's good to make findings before coming online to blurt out rubbish. Radiographers report and sign films in the UK. https://blog.bir.org.uk/2017/02/13/breaking-the-mould-how-radiographer-reporting-is-better-for-the-patient/
Re: Radiography Vs Pharmacy. Which Is More Lucrative by Syphax(m): 7:28pm On Apr 27
Radiologist is private sectors don't earn more than radiographers because radiographers are the ones doing the actual work. A radiologist may even report films from the comfort of his home which is why they are not paid much.

nurain150:Oga I will know more in radiology than you.
Radioisotopes have no expiry date. They are used for radio imaging like xray. Works with the half life.
When swallowed, after the half life, half of it will disintegrate, release energy in as photons. This energy can be captured by an xray machine.

Don't these kids throwing advices here.
Most of them are not even in the medical field to know what's obtainable.
If he reads Radiography and stays in Nigeria, hunger may finish him off, as government jobs are not readily available and even when they come, the salary won't be enough to cater for his basic needs.
And he may not have the capital to start a good diagnostic centre.
He would be left at the mercy of private hospitals and diagnostic centres where he would be paid between 30,000 to 60,000 naira per month.
Then, he would learn his lessons.

You get a very good portable ultrasound machine for 370-450k or mobile one for 500k.
Let me not dive into CAC, registration and set of desktop computer with printer and Gen set.
I would like you to educate me more.

Re: Radiography Vs Pharmacy. Which Is More Lucrative by mrphysics(m): 12:52pm On Apr 28
nurain150:Stop saying what you don't know bro.
Doctors only interpret the result. Pharmacists sell the barium. If it's other isotopes, your security clearance level won't even allow you to see the isotope in the first place.
Every big hospital such as National Hospital have a Nuclear Medicine unit. Others have radiology centers where radioisotopes are kept in close monitoring. The administration of it is purely done there. You don't sell radioisotopes used for medical reasons in the pharmacy.
Since you know close to nothing about the working of radioisotopes in the human body, what stops you from selling your normal drugs and forget about this competition. Or is the only one you know the barium chalk?
Because from your response above, it is clear you don't even know what's happening after taking Barium chalk.
Re: Radiography Vs Pharmacy. Which Is More Lucrative by nurain150(m): 1:06pm On Apr 28
mrphysics:Bro you forgot something, you are a physicsts, you are not a radiographer don't ever think of administering radioisotopes. You lack the knowledge of what and how a human body looks like. You can do non medical radioisotope experiments and research not on human please.Beyond beinf absorbed into the body system you don't understand the pharmacology, the pharmacodynamics of the drug .And mind you barium isn't only used for xtray as you know.
I bet you googled your write up ...
I'm strictly speaking off resources here ....
Rest Mr physics why not think of monitoring storage in medical units be the janitor
Re: Radiography Vs Pharmacy. Which Is More Lucrative by mrphysics(m): 1:20pm On Apr 28
nurain150:Your knowledge of the nuclear medicine is very low and is inadequate to indulge me in this discussion. During my training, we were told not to specialize or seek a career in the nuclear medicine as doctors and pharmacists usually claim to lead the medical field. Only one person specialized in nuclear medicine and another whom we had partly same lectures (he didn't even take specialized courses with us) is currently doing his internship in Austria (Vienna) in the nuclear medicine unit of a hospital. I would have done my masters thesis in the Nuclear Medicine unit of National Hospital Abuja (that was the last option, I was already communicating with the director who is a medical doctor but had further studies in the nuclear medicine field in South Africa).
During my training, we explored advanced ways of administering radioisotopes to patients. For cancer treatment, we studied in advanced nuclear technology ways to make measurements to reach the exact target depending on what we want to achieve. There's something called Matrix of an linear accelerator (Which is used in transporting radioisotopes from it's production to the deposit site.
I have attached some of the simulations we did in studying the propagation of rays in the human body and the various interactions that exist.
I won't share more, but for you to know what I know about radioisotopes as used in proton therapy, x-ray, and imaging, etc (I don't know much self in this area), it will take you some time bro.
Now tell me who needs to be a janitor in nuclear medicine unit of any hospital?
Re: Radiography Vs Pharmacy. Which Is More Lucrative by nurain150(m): 2:33pm On Apr 28
But All in all your scope of practice isn't beyond the research and simulation as said you can't administer radio is topes if you ain't a physician or pharmacist majorly you can't even compound the radiopharmaceuticals ،talkless of dispensing them .....
Stick to your research and simulations not on real life patients. I LEAVE YOU FOR THE RADIOGRAPHERS AND RADIOLOGIST TO HANDLE.
Let take a case study of administration radioisotopes on a patient with a damage on the parietal portion of the skull, this causing an ischemic attack and reduced perfusion in the cerebral circulation.
You are to administer perform a radioimaging thus that you expose his metencephalon locating the portion for smell motor function.
It is a case study not a. Clinical scenario can you?.
No because you lack the knowledge of Human anatomy and physiology to do so .
Re: Radiography Vs Pharmacy. Which Is More Lucrative by Syphax(m): 2:35pm On Apr 28
You're deluded. A radiologist in a Nigerian private centre don't earn much. Most radiologists work in government hospitals, they complement their government works with private works. In privates, they are paid per film reported (1000 per film) and so on. You don't know shit about the radiology field so shut the fụ́ck up.
Re: Radiography Vs Pharmacy. Which Is More Lucrative by sonnie10: 3:11pm On Apr 28
I will try to sound modest here, but when it comes to radiology, it will take you decades to even qualify to be my student. The more you open your mouth, the more ignorance you exhibit. Who is still talking about film in 2021? Bring on conversation about PACS, AI and Telerad then I will engage you. In your little world, you feel the job of a radiologist ends in reading "films."
Who does the invasive procedure like Arthrogram, Lumbar puncture, pain management, flouro, hysterogram, Contrast exams, radiation dose prescription for therapy, etc? Do you even know what it cost to have any of those procedures?

Bullshit, focus on the discussion at hand and stop spewing shits about radiography related words you just saw online. The truth still remain that in private establishments, radiologists in Nigeria don't earn much. Most of them earn by per film interpreted basis. In fact it's rare to see a radiologist that works full time in a private centre. Most of them are part time workers. As for the special exams, most Radiographers are the ones doing it in private centres. I know radiographers that do lumbar puncture very well.
