People say their righteousness is in Christ(true from the Bible), but some tend to make it look like no matter how they live, Christ is responsible to them. Or you may say "it is not my own righteousness but Christ's righteousness", you are very right!. But the issue is: if Christ is your righteousness, you must provide great evidences of His righteousness in your life. This is done through good works or showing fruits of righteousness. How do I mean? If you say Christ is your righteousness, you must prove it by not committing sin, not collecting bribe, not fornicating, not committing adultery, not lying, not cheating, etc

The portion in bold addresses Holiness, one of the characteristics of those who have God's Righteousness.

God's Righteousness happens after one is become Holy, not before and it is not seen in the things we do but through adherence to God's Will and commandments which He makes known through His Spirit living inside of those who are Righteous in His sight. We, however, know of those who have God's righteousness, that they do the works listed in Matthew 25 vs 31 -40.

God's Righteousness IS NOT "Christ's Righteousness" which Paul wrote of in his letters. And only those who find the Kingdom of God followed by God's Righteousness, will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Truth is that such an idea that Christ is the righteousness is only the figment of the imaginations of those who believe such, that's why they could live contrary lives and be workers of iniquity regardless.

So although you mean well by trying to make such a false idea to make sense, that doesn't make it to be true.

The earlier they stopped deceiving themselves and started living righteous lives in obedience to God which is what God would use to judge them at the end, the better it would be for them.

They can ask God to help them live righteously for Him, that would be more reasonable than imagining they have a righteousness that doesn't exist, and at the end they would get to be judged on the basis of their own works of righteousness or iniquity, which is the only thing they could have.
