Glad to announce to y'all that:

I AM THE NUMBER ONE MAMA'S BOY ON NAIRALAND.

No level of blackmailing by members of the other gender can stop me from being a proud mummy's boy!

No one should hang anything on my wall biko. Let the wall be bare except for family photos, and that is because I grew up in such a household.

Why would the MIL's picture be framed on the wall?

It’s not easy to be a mother, Right? Now imagine doing all that and then someone says your child should put you in second place after their own mom. Makes sense?

Or do you emotional boys think only your own moms suffered through motherhood? Other people’s mom don’t count?

@bold, you’re crying because? grin
Imagine being this emotional about your own mother but don’t understand why it sounds crappy to think that someone else should put their mom second after yours?

You rushed like a crazed person to quote me and rant without reading the comment o was responding to. Smh

Let me gently repeat myself just one more time.

I said what I want for myself. That is, any woman I marry must understand that my mother is first before her own mother.

Pls go over and say what you want and I promise, u won't see my comment.

I Wouldn't feel bad if he hangs pictures of his mum on the wall. I would gladly bring out pictures of my own mum and dad and also hang on the walls. With that, our kids can easily identity their grandparents. kiss

Oga Methuselah, any girl that says you shouldn't hang your mom's photo on your own house wall is capable of doing anything to you. Besides, they are the ones that said they will leave if the photo is hung on wall. No body dey divorce them o. Besides, instead of violence, e better make everybody his or her way, after all, no be Bill Gate wey be billionaire sef and public figure and his wife just got divorced? E no better like that than say one person kill the other one?

Dead or alive, it doesn't matter. Some men share a very strong bond with their mum. It's not suppose to be an issue, at least from my own point of view o.

I don’t count this as something that matters at all.
Family pictures are welcome.

I only have issues with disrespect.

Little things like these are inconsequential. People focus on the wrong things all the time. Women who have problems with little things like this often miss when bigger issues that can actually affect them and their future come up. Because they are focused on pictures, who seats in the front seat, who dished food from their pot, petty things etc, they miss important things.

Hello Coco, you sound hugely intelligent here. Are you married?

Any lady I intend to spend the rest of my life with should have it at the back of her mind that my mother is my second God and I will splash her portrait anywhere in the house.

Though my mom is not the type that would encourage me to take the love I have for her to the extreme.

Lemme hear from the ladies here sha. cheesy
in relationships there should be boundaries.will you be ok with her putting her father's frame in the dinning room or bedroom?

Awkward Abi? Exactly.that is how it looks putting your mom's picture there.that doesn't mean that you don't love your mom

the thing is,it depends on agreement

For example, for the sake of your kids knowing their paternal and maternal grandparents, you could hang their pictures on the wall so your kids can know their grandparents from both sides but splashing pictures of your Mom all over the house is just ridiculous that visitors begin to wonder what's up

I went to a married couples house and I saw pictures of the mother of the husband.i didn't know at first because she looked young. meanwhile it was the picture used during her younger days so I innocently asked the man is this your sister or your second wife.they both laughed and said it's his mom's because the pictures of her were all over the place that I was wondering whether it's the couple that owns the home or the man's mom.it was almost looking as if the woman dashed them the house and so her picture had to be almost everywhere

I am not against my wife hanging her forefathers picture anywhere in my house, but trying to bring up any silly argument as regards me hanging my own mother's picture will send her straight to her father's house and it's non negotiable..

It all depends on the relationship between the two, if she(wife) wants it there I would oblige her.

There is this common feud between some mother-in-laws and wives that is still a mystery which gave rise to this question. grin

Ladies, if your mother-in-law is still alive, how would you feel if your husband hangs pictures of her on the wall? I can understand if she is dead but alive, would you welcome it ?

You mean the framed picture of the woman that gave life to my husband? Like, is that supposed to be a problem?

you can get lost if you don't feel comfortable with my mother's picture hanging on the wall in my own house. Them Never born you well. You mean the woman that has me in her for 9 whole months, give birth to me, took care of me till I became the man you think I am. Then you that I just met probably in just few years will now become more important than my mom that I will not hang her photo on my own house wall. I sure say you dey dream. You can leave for all I care and when you get home, tell your people that you left cuz I hung my mother's photo on my own house wall. Call me mommy's boy, you will be highly welcomed cuz if not her, I wouldn't be alive today.
Save your strength..I already said live alone if you can’t cope, you should be able to sacrifice that for your beloved mother. All these talk ko necesstri.

Hilarious thread, more hilarious comments.

Never knew people put framed photos of their parents in their homes, I thought it was the parents that put that of the children and grandchildren in their living room.

It sounds very strange to me, never even thought of placing my mums framed picture in the living room. I have never visited someone with their either of their parents photos framed and hung in the living room, maybe its in the bedroom as some posters have said.

So, Mrs Right will tell me that I cannot hang my Mama's picture? Abi, will I go and take permission from Mrs Right before I hang my Mama's picture? The OP needs serious beating, flogging and whipping at the market square.
