China/ Nigeria Security Partnership: Has Nigeria Committed A Strategic Blunder? by Armaggedon: 9:46pm On Apr 29, 2021
The Federal govt's obsession with using a military solution on it's numerous challenges may have landed the country in a dangerous dilemma. The latest China/Nigeria security partnership may land Nigeria in the middle of a neo-cold war crossfire between US and China.

The west colonised nigeria and has been Nigeria's closest allies since independence, dominating trade and controlling the country's vast oil reserve. Although Soviet union aided Nigeria during the Biafra war, the British made sure they supplied more military hardware equipment to avoid loosing Africa's biggest country to the Soviets. But things have changed. China is now in the picture. It is growing rapidly in all spheres and expanding aggressively into the traditional west spere of influence.

China ended the agreement concerning hong Kong and annexed it fully, threatens other countries over Taiwan, Fights with Japan over Islands, fight with Philippines over south China sea, forced Barbados to removed UK queen as head of state, fights with India at the border. China is engaged in trade war with Australia , US and Canada. In addition, several African country like Zambia, Angola, Ethiopia including Nigeria owe Billions of dollars to the Chinese.

Its clear why US is desperate to stop China. Now that Nigeria looks like it's about to implode, the west including UK, do not intend to support the FG militarily. They first refused the terror tag on IPOB and gave Kanu safety. A few days ago UK announced asylum for IPOB members.
With the Eastern region of the Nigeria seemingly proliferated, which is Nigeria's biggest fear, Nigeria hosted the UK and US ministers and Secretary of state pleading for security assistance which both rejected. The FG has quickly gone to plead with China.

China coming to the scene will be a serious problem for the west. The west knows that If they win, it will give them a big leverage. they'll take control of Africa's biggest economy and possibly have a base in the country. Rather than allowing China take control of one more territory, US and UK will rather support Biafra by giving them weapons, intelligence etc in order to have an "eye" in West Africa. Nigeria may have committed a big blunder out of desperation.

If China trespasses into our Bush, Their flat faces will be sent to God for judgment in the most brutal manner.

If the try coming hard on Biafrans , US and Britain will step in for Biafrans to prevent human right abuse, last last WW3 will start in Abuja and it will be burnt to ground

Well said.
However, we all know it’s not in the interest of the west to have Nigeria in chaos.
The humanitarian crisis will be the biggest in the world!
Where will over 200million people seek asylum?
The whole west Africa will be in chaos.

Nigeria is already in chaos. Western interest in Nigeria lies majorly in the Eastern region oil and gas, and maybe defence alliance. Ever wondered why the UGM have not attacked any oil facility? seems something is ongoing already.

A big strategic blunder pro-China now control our market hence economy and having access to our supposed confidential security information means our defense is extremely vulnerable.

I recalled how Lt.Gen.Martin Luther Agwai(then CDS) has to retire from Obasanjo government because of US army coming to train Nigeria troops towards external security operations in Nigerian soil.

I mean chaos chaos. Huge humanitarian crisis like the one in Syria.
I'm talking about their interest in the stability of Sub-saharan Africa.
Talking oil and gas, their interest is in the South-South. The oil production in the South East and South West is minute and negligible!
As a matter of fact, Edo state 2.06% produces more oil than the 2 oil producing states in the East(Abia 0.68% and Imo 1.06%) combined.
Akwa Ibom, Delta, Rivers and Bayelsa produces 80% of our oil.
Basically, it's Niger-Delta and others.

Based on the skewed data provided by vindictive characters like Obasanjo and Buhari, abi?
We will like to have an independent data from all igbo speaking communities, including the likes of Obigbo and co..
Meanwhile almost all your gas reserves are at Imo state and Abia state!
Largest in Africa!
You are now deploying pipelines to loot that one as usual, and you will credit the gas to neighboring states through which it crossed like kogi and Abuja, as you did with oil pipelines with the help of militants..
When you finish laying the pipelines, ESN will start laying the other one...
Meanwhile, how much do your cocoa contribute?

If China actively gets into the fray, it's a game changer...
IPOB should be aware and should do everything to derail that..
I think it was in the bid to woo the Chinese that Buhari released the Adax oil blocks back to them few days ago..

Good thing is that China knows that Nigeria is highly messed up, and the Chinese are not good at ethnic politics of "devide and rule" like the British. They were visited with the same sort of politics by the British and other western powers in such places as Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, and so seem to get irritated by that... But then , oil and gas money can easily trounce these feelings..
They also worry a lot about the perception of their activities in Africa, especially with the west always warning of their intentions...

But never doubt their military abilities on this one. They can change the situation without sending much soldiers here. Just trainers and weapons. They finished the Tamil Tigers for Sirilanka and fried indian troops at the Himalayas.. No active insurgency survives in China. They are brutally ruthless in stamping out violent anti establishment movements!
Very effective weapons they have. And no moral scruples to worry about while they're at it..

Bottom line:
IPOB making them friends at all costs, since they slightly supported the earlier Biafran quest while Chiarman Mao was in charge, is the best bet...
You stand no chance against that behemoth..

The fear of China is the beginning of wisdom.. China don't play hypocrisy game like western world when it comes to security matter. They are not like Western countries who will be selling weapons for you and also for your enemies.

The last Civil war in Nigeria , France sold weapons to Nigeria and Biafra... To them, they can finish themselves as long as they are buying weapons...

France didn't sell weapons to Nigeria and Biafra so "they can finish themselves"..
That tactics is more American and relatively recent.
France was on the side of the Biafrans for basically two reasons:
1) To destabilize a potential regional power in Nigeria, that might in the long run grow way too big to curtail the French excesses in French West Africa and beyond (same reason I suspect thy are active in Borno through Chad as we speak)...
2) to spite Britain who was posturing as the new godfather of an "oil rich west African giant"...

As the war ultimately turned into a proxy war between the British and the French, the Americans called the two to a table to settle their differences over Nigerias oil wealth, how it will be shared and sundry matters.. The worry here was that because the Soviets were also involved, they could take advantage... The French got the guarantees they wanted and started supporting Nigeria...., and that was the end of Biafra..

But France did sell weapons to both Nigeria and Biafra... Yes or No

If I'm selling female clothes and you come to buy from me, I might decide to sell to you, if I feel I need your cash.., but may ultimately decide to keep the better, more recent designs for free to my girlfriend or wife.. Sounds stupid to some, but makes me happy.. Self interests..

The French were not motivated by a special love for Biafra. You are right there...
But they were not also motivated by a special dislike for any of the warring factions...
It was pure real-politik for them; safeguarding their french vassal states in west africa and getting their scraggy hands on Biafran oil..

If Ojukwus war efforts were reasonably up to scratch, they could have voted with the Biafrans because since the inception of the decolonization process in West Africa, the French has always been warry of Nigerias size, clout and influences over her former colonies.. No white government genuinely worries if a thousand Africans die in an hour over a "primitive war". Look at Congo kinshasa today.. All the worry about is the mineral resources..

You are confused.

1) I wrote about Eastern region but you're smuggling 'south west' into the discuss.

2) I wrote about "vast oil and gas reserve " but you're talking about oil production.Know the difference. Read to understand and calm down before replying.

Moreover, South east and south south divide is purely imaginative. It's neither geographical nor even constitutional. So I wonder what's the source of your confusion.

If u turn to paul for help and he refuses wont you turn to peter for same help?
