Memoirs of a Pandemic

Has it ever been a smooth ride?

Hasn’t life always been crooked?

Journeying through this crooked road

Had to get passed 2019 quickly

And the joy of 2020 felt like arriving in my favourite movie

How wrong I was, because it now feels like my scariest

Who could forget the months of march, April and June so quickly?

The days I spent in my room thinking and writing

Never failed to look out my window a million times

Just to be sure the virus infected persons

Had not become haunting zombies

Remembering one of the nights spent in my small hut

Staring plainly at the burning candle

With flames flapping like an American flag in the wind with glory

How I wish I could be so happy like this little flame

Who could? When the world was facing an apocalyptic pandemic

Started like little fire and became global fire of chaos.

Pondering on the weakness of our reality,

Voices outside my window sang praises to coronavirus

How could I have forgotten the previous day

Walking under the moonlight and all side talks echoed the newest celebrity in town… coronavirus

I wish I was as famous as coronavirus

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride them to death

I was one of those beggars.

Could things have gotten better or worse?

Being ruled by a government of lower IQ was one problem

The same government being unable to contain the virus was another problem

Foreigners still coming into the country was another problem

Honorable president pronouncing Covid-19 as Covik1-9

Definitely his problem not mine

An entire nation turned into a laughing stock

Religious leaders unable to give us a miracle,

Chose to self isolate but still demanding tithes and offering

Less I forget, the church is marching on and the devil (covid-19) shall not prevail

Churches running secret services against government protocol

Here is the church trying to play the victim

How difficult is it to obey simple instruction

Yet they preach disobedience when they are an embodiment of such negativity.

The months of march and April has taught me something big

Foolishness and fear spreads faster than a virus.

Not forgetting my dear president.

80% of his citizens wishes of covik1-9 to pay him a homely visit

The ranting and roaring of angry and hungry citizens

Curses and swear words roaming the streets in honor of the president

Do I care? The question that comes to mind

These people look like they could lynch the president

But empty threats has always been the logo

The internet has become the den of online lions and lionesses

But reality is home to puppies and bitches

Yes I do care

I do care about the well being of our beloved corrupt president

Never been part of the evil wishers

I mean well for him and his actions

I never forget once stopped praying for him

And there is no stopping and time soon

And I pray that he lives long enough to enjoy the Nigeria he spent 8 years destroying

And in this era of coronavirus

I wish my president nothing but maximum positivity in HEALTH and TESTS…
