"just a weapon buff"?
These are the guys who illegally mine minerals while supplying weapons to the rebels that have continuously fought every government in that country..
CAR has been going through western instigated wars since the days of Emperor Bokassa, who was just an ordinary lieutenant in the French overseas army. The French organized a coup against the democratically elected government to impose an unlettered Bokassa as president and the guy used the national budget to organize a coronation ceremony where he made himself an Emperor! When the French got tired of him, they also organized a fresh coup to get rid of him .. Basically using the country as a huge experimental lab to practice their political fantasies..

Since then, the CAR has never known peace. Russian soldiers are there with the Rwandese now.. Countless french induced coups and wars over the years... It's a vast country, little population, but "blessed" with huge mineral deposits just next door to Congo kinshasa, another minerals behemoth, so the west won't let go. One of their presidents, Bozizze or so even visited Nigeria many years back to seek for help and protection, but Nigeria is a basket case itself. Libya sent in soldiers under Gadaffi and helped to protect the government and stabilize the country. But then NATO killed Gadaffi, Libyan soldiers went back home and another round of turmoil was unleashed. These guy above is part of the problem. They are all economic terrorists, killing locals like game animals to steal gems and other minerals for free. Money made from this is used to keep the country devided and fighting endlessly, since stability leads to effective governance which may end the looting...

The sad reality and truth as is you have laid down here ,

Your comparison is greatly flawed. People die normally for casket sellers to make profit and they don't go about killing people so they can sell but weapon manufacturing countries create wars to sell. How you can comprehend this?

They don't create wars, they sell theneeds. They could lobby for war, but they don't create the reason for the war.

Likewise a coffin manufacturer does not create death, but sells the needed. And note, you can't take war out of our existence.

Central African security forces on Monday got hold of a Frenchman who was holding significant military effects at his home.

The man identified as Juan Rémy Quignolot of French nationality and aged 55 was arrested at his home by the police.

It was during a search of his home in Bangui that a large arsenal of war was discovered.
Possibly a contact for foreign mercenaries

The Frenchman's arrest was confirmed by the security council of President Faustin Touadéra, Valery Zakharov.

“A foreign citizen was arrested in Bangui today with a huge amount of weapons and ammunition. An investigation is underway and the circumstances need to be clarified, ”Russian Valery Zakharov announced in a tweet.

According to local media, the suspect who introduced himself as a journalist is one of the former trainers of the fighters of the former rebel Seleka coalition.

An investigation is underway.

This is an interesting case. The man does have a military look about him, but he only has three rifles and one semi-auto handgun in his possession. That M16, the scoped Remington Model 700, the handgun, and that single-barreled shotgun are a small collection that certainly does no qualify to be called an "arsenal".

The man's collection looks more geared towards home defense and recreational hunting, than any sort of military endeavor.

FYI Check out his physique! the guy looks more like a mercenary/ trainer than an arms dealer. Proper arms dealers operating in Africa and globally, dont scrounge around like this, they have middlemen who are usually the locals to butress their deals. On another note, IF he were caught here in Naija, he would be held in a 5 star hotel with everything he needs....he will even have access to top officials (im just saying)

Why would a Journalist have such weapons.

I know that France have been behind several problems in African francophone countries. There is nothing to be surprised about if he is guilty.

There are probably thousands of them out there.
That's their usual cover to claim to be journalists, BBC and CNN will claim that they work for them as freelance contributors, that's why people no longer have confidence in western media, how many times do you visit CNN website since your eyes was opened to Fake News?

This dude is just a weapons buff, a little crazy maybe, but what he has there is not more that what he'd need to defend himself in a frontier town like Bangui

And why is a Russian running comms for them if this isn't all about misinformation propaganda

Definitely not special Ops with those kind of guns and its condition. Take a look at the gadgets. He is either secret operative into Black Market Intel sales or a "safe house" keeper. The amo there is not even worth one risking his peace all the way from France to start answering arms dealer in Africa or else he is sick upstairs.

To be sincere those are just hand gun and assault rifle to hold ground for atleast 2hrs b4 help arrives. My guess is "safe house " run by French secret service and will never be heard of again..it will be denied and a deal/transaction initiated to get him back to avoid beans spilling
