The Sokoto State Police Command have rescued a 12-year-old girl, Joy Emmanuel, caged for eight months by her guardians identified as Bassey and Esther Emmanuel at their home in the Sokoto Cinema area in Sokoto North Local Government Area.

IgbereTV reports that Joy was locked up and deprived of food because of her unstable mental condition.

Sokoto State Police Command spokesman, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, who confirmed the incident to neswmen said the victim was rescued on Thursday, May 13 while the suspects were arrested and detained at the Dadin Kowa police station.

He said;

“They kept the girl in a cage at their compound and starved her of food for eight months.

When our men broke the door of the cage, the girl was too frail to walk because she was emaciated. We met her in a very horrible situation, urinating and excreting inside the cage.

The girl was taken to the specialist’s hospital for treatment."

ASP Abubakar said the victim and the suspects would be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Person and other Related Matters (NAPTIP) where further action would be taken.

Lots of exaggerations in this story.
No human can survive being starved for 8months. Secondly, she's is in isolation because she is mad and not because her guardians just want to maltreat her.

But the biggest form of hypocrisy is to expect people to treat a mad person with the same decency they'd treat a normal person.

Expect hypocrites to get sentimental about the truth but remember that none of their mad relatives are in a psychiatric home.
It is Nigeria for fvcks sake.

Bad is bad but don't forget that mad is mad too. You can house a dog but will you house a hyena?
The fact that she is mad justifies this supposed 'bad' route they've chosen to contain her and protect themselves.

My friend's maternal aunt who haboured her mad nephew learnt the hard way.
She'd feed him and hit the chaplet on his head praying for his restoration.
Everyone advised her to chain him behind the house but she said it was dehumanizing.

Two months later, she didn't wake up because he had sliced out her heart when she was asleep. When asked, he said she was too kind-hearted so he wanted to help preserve the heart.

Moral.
Never judge people when they treat mad people in a certain way.

Later some people will say humans are naturally good. And there is nothing for you to repent of.

You assume that because you haven't killed someone and because you helped little old lady cross the street abi?

Isaiah and Job thought they were good till they saw God's holiness and majesty. And cursed themselves as a result.

Even those who are evil in many other ways will also come and condemn this evil act.

Well, the earlier you accept the testimony of God that you are evil and were born in evil, the better for you.

Matthew 7:11
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

The fvck is the idiiot saying? Theres a reason why hospitals and social workers exist... how can you defend human abuse? Trying to reason with what you just typed but the more i read the more i see how truly evil and twisted your mind is. Anyone that thinks the way you think deserves to be labeled "mad" and treated the way you just narrated they should be treated

One thing I learnt from this post is this "look at the pictures closes and you'll know our collective fate in earth, death remains our sure end." only if we knew that we were born to die, we will live aright.
