They shouldn't rush and give her proper food o. She might get into shock and die.
Proper diet should be introduced slowly

I'm not sure it was up to 8 months. Can a human survive just one month without food and water, talk more 8?

But even if it's just a day, it's a cruel thing to do, especially to a little girl.

Lots of exaggerations in this story.

But the biggest form of hypocrisy is to expect people to treat a mad person with the same decency they'd treat a normal person.

Bad is bad but don't forget that mad is mad too. You can house a dog but will you house a hyena?

My friend's maternal aunt who haboured her mad nephew learnt the hard way.
She'd feed him and hit the chaplet on his head praying for his restoration.
Everyone adviced her to chain him behind the house but she said it was dehumanizing.

Two months later, she didn't wake up because he had sliced out her heart when she was asleep. When asked, he said she was too kind-hearted so he wanted to help preserve the heart.

Moral.
Never judge people when they treat mad people in a certain way.

Somebody's child is starved for good 8months and you are here saying all this shit....na wa for u ooo

What makes you think that you are not mentally deranged yourself as a typical Nigeria? Is it because you wear clothes and probably make money for being an inherent psychopathic oga somewhere in the country of the blind? Ninety-five percent of nigerian population could easily be clinically deranged if they are psychiatrically evaluated.

How on earth can you in any way justify such a barbaric act?

Government should provide facilities for mentally ill persons free of charge under social investment programme. Caring for such pple by their immediate family is difficult. It's also very expensive to take them to hospital. In most cases family members resorted to this kind of treatment for mentally ill persons.

Moral of this your comment.... never treat mad people like people ... treat them like wild beasts.. Everyone advised her to chain him behind the house ... which community is this?.. let me know to avoid.

The problem is ignorance and lack of mental health facilities. This should not be in this 21st century. If we can treat children this way then we will do the same to the elderly when dementia sets in.

Later some people will say humans are naturally good. And there is nothing for you to repent of.

You assume that because you haven't killed someone and because you helped little old lady cross the street abi?

Isaiah and Job thought they were good till they saw God's holiness and majesty. And cursed themselves as a result.

Even those who are evil in many other ways will also come and condemn this evil act.

Well, the earlier you accept the testimony of God that you are evil and were born in evil, the better for you.

Matthew 7:11
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

The so-called government themselves are the worst lunatics. If they are no lunatics, if they are not won't be running the country the way they do and you will barely have issues like this.

Please mental illness is a medical issue that requires medical attention not cage. Unfortunately, our society particularly religious Nigerian believe it is evil spirit which is not true.

With the right medication and care sick people will recover including the mad. Please advocate for their welfare, so that they will be treated as humans they are. Thanks in advance.

Lots of exaggerations in this story.
No human can survive being starved for 8months. Secondly, she's is in isolation because she is mad and not because her guardians just want to maltreat her.

But the biggest form of hypocrisy is to expect people to treat a mad person with the same decency they'd treat a normal person.

Expect hypocrites to get sentimental about the truth but remember that none of their mad relatives are in a psychiatric home.
It is Nigeria for fvcks sake.

Bad is bad but don't forget that mad is mad too. You can house a dog but will you house a hyena?
The fact that she is mad justifies this supposed 'bad' route they've chosen to contain her and protect themselves.

My friend's maternal aunt who haboured her mad nephew learnt the hard way.
She'd feed him and hit the chaplet on his head praying for his restoration.
