Southern Governors Betrayed Buhari, Nigerians - Ex Northern Governor

Former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has accused the governors from the southern region of the country of betraying the trust of Nigerians and their oath of office.
He also accused them of betraying their oath of allegiance to the President of Nigeria.

Adamu, the current lawmaker representing Nasarawa West in the upper chamber of the National Assembly added that the Southern Governors didn’t follow the right channel in demanding the restructuring of Nigeria as well as their decision to ban open grazing in their region.

The former two-term governor of Nasarawa State made the submission on Thursday in Keffi, the state capital during an interview with journalists where he reacted to the communique issued by the 17 southern governors after their meeting on Tuesday in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Newspot recalls the Southern Governors Forum at the end of its meeting held in Delta State on Tuesday, 11th May, 2021, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently address the security situation in the country and speak directly to Nigerians.

The Governors while banning open grazing in their region, also noted that the activities of armed herdsmen in the southern part of the country is a serious security challenge that needs urgent attention as innocent citizens are being killed and their properties destroyed.

They also called on the Buhari administration to take bold steps on the issue of restructuring while declaring their support for state police.

These decisions were part of the 12-point communique issued and read by the chairman of the forum, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State at the end of its four hours meeting held in Asaba, the Delta state capital.

However, Adamu in his reaction said the Governors are only playing to the gallery and have said nothing different.

He noted that they should have channeled their thoughts through the legislators representing their states at the National Assembly or spoken through to the President through available channels rather than addressing him in a public communique.

He said, “The recent meeting of the Southern Governors Forum is an act of betrayal of the trust Nigerians reposed in them. Each governor pledged and swore to an oath and they emphasized loyalty to the sovereignty of this country. They also pledged their loyalty to the President of the country. That’s their oath of office.

While we accept the fact that we have freedom of association and freedom of expression as citizens, they have failed to express their views through the right channel. They are members of the National Council of State. Every governor is a member of the NCS. It also included former presidents who are still living.

“There is no better forum at their level to take a joint decision than such a forum. The fact that they have taken a decision as a divisive move does not speak well of their intention. I feel it is a betrayal of trust. I think they are just playing to the gallery.

What they are saying is not new. Those things have become like broken records, saying the same thing over and over again. Why can’t they come to the appropriate body which is the National Assembly to project their ideas?

“They have members in the National Assembly who are representing them, if they have an issue that is so important as that which borders on the constitution of the country, they should go there and express their grievances.

We would sit, debate it and see how best we can come out of it. There can’t be Nigeria if everyone wants to have things happen in his or her own way.

“There is a constitution and there is a framework that we are supposed to operate as governors. To go outside it is a betrayal of their oath of office. Each of them talking there, if you take a look at what is happening in their individual states, they cannot in all honesty and good conscience, challenge Buhari.”

In a related view, Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume has disagreed with the position of Southern Governors who announced a ban on open grazing in the southern region of Nigeria.

Ndume who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Army in his reaction to the position of the governors said the ban on open grazing is not the solution to the challenges of insecurity facing the region and Nigeria as a whole.

The only oath of allegiance is with people that voted them to power. How do they betrayed Buhari? National assembly is more important in restructuring Nigeria than Mr president.

When Northerners talk these days you just realize that mad as as any Nigerian assumes Nnamdi Kanu etal are, Southern seccessist groups had a point all along saying we have no business sharing a nation with Northerners.

Imagine someone saying Southern Governors are betraying the oath they swore to Buhari. What oath to Buhari, a single and mere mortal who will leave this world one day, is greater than the oath Governors swore to protect and act in the best interest of the millions of their people who voted them into power?

Abeg let Nigeria separate asap. People who are so divergent in views and outlook, as Northerners and Southerners clearly are, should not be fellow citizens of the same nation.

Northerners should be free, in their own nation, to swear oath to a Supreme leader and die in their thousands daily for the ineptitude of that leader if that is how they want it. The South should not join them to exist like that. One man and his cabal cannot hijack the future of 210 million people in the biggest black nation on earth.

If southerners try a quarter of what Fulani are doing in the south, they would have burn down Nigeria since a long time ago.

Adamu is talking rubbish, it's time to restructure the security architecture. We all know that, if the presidency wants it, the national assembly will obey.

To Northerners, 'every allegiance of Nigerians should be to the North and Fulanis;... others in Nigeria don't exist'

The Southerners elected their leaders to represent them not the Northern interests.

Is obvious that the northern half education marked as first class results are now manifesting because the southern leaders unit and made concrete decision for once.

Can this animals tell Nigerians how the southern governor's swear oath of royalty to Mr. President? Is Mr. President a Nigeria and state Constitution the governor's swear, this animals forget that any oath taken apart from the useless Constitution force to Nigerians is as useless as verbal agreement.

Swearing oath of royalty to president is betrayal to Citizen of the state.

He said they should channel their regional security discussion issue to all institutions controlled by people that swear oath of royalty to buhari, which at end of the day, nothing good shall comes out of it because they can't do the right to avoid offending self made god that doesn't have base.

Which national assembly he was talking about, the assemble that is in control of a geography student that doesn't know anything about law or Constitution despite been in house since 1999. The Lawal that can drink Buhari urine if buhari jokingly say Mr. Lawal take this urine and drink it, he don't know if Constitution permits it to do so or not.

If is possible for southerns governor's this is opportunity to form strong unification and pass a strong bills to protect the region's in the name of state Constitution, as we practice federation government the state need to treat any bleep up with strong state law even pass dead sentence and execute it.

The North is directly saying that southern governor's are not good to units but they at North are only good to unit and make the decisions that South must adobts, because in their mind they had successfully divided South into 3 and with their instigations from north they south can't units again. But they forget that southerners are also one because we intermarred and have many things in common.

The South should unit more to take back things belongs to South which the North has stolen for years and using it against the South.
This are things North has stolen from South.
Your revenue/Tax
Your resources
Your intelligence, working under illiterate boss
Imposing population to us as higher than South
Disobedience to federal character.

With strong southern governor's and senators and masses unification, the North will accept restructuring without any option.

Because is only when the South stands in one voice that the restructuring will be real, if restructuring fail to happen at a given date southern leaders, then the South should seized to be part of Nigeria republic and should be known as southern republic.

Any day southern unification assembly decide something as this, I bet you there will be restructuring the following week.

Imagine they call their terrorists foot soldiers to come back home, without treating to fight the South, this is to prove there's power in unity.

Also it proved to Nigerians that entire not are together with Fulani's invasion of the South.

The governor's should hurry to backup the ban with state law so that southern masses can go out to enforce it.

The North has gone mad walahi. Or maybe they just pretended to be decent all along to buy more time to actualize their nefarious expansionist agenda.

Northern elite clearly ruined their own region and destroyed the future of their own people. Now they are casting covetous eyes over the land and asset of southerners.

Their frustration is now boiling over because it it now appears that Southerners are not just going to bow and let themselves be conquered and enslaved. This is what is leading to all these Machiavellian, evil and totally unprincipled comment we are hearing from so many Northern leaders currently.

Truth is that they just don't see us as equal to them in the Nigerian project and that means this is the time for all of us to take a stand against them or risk being conquered and subjugated by those with a fuedal and ethno-religious dedication to the subjugation of others of different ethnicity and religious faith to them.
